I've been working on a home brew artificer subclass that uses a charge machanic that is used to power magical devices that can reproduce spells or mudane replacements( grappling hook, spider climb boots, web cannon.)
For the lv 17 ablity I want a magic deflection device that can redirect spells cast nearby. So if evil lich wizard cast a fireball at the party the artificer can use it's reaction to make the spell change course and miss the party. I'm just having trouble hammering out the language.
I know this seems powerful but it probably going to be a once a long rest ablity.
