Partial Multiclassting

Here's the idea my friend and 1 are doing for his game.
Normal mutlticlassing is gone. You pick a class and stick with it unless you prestige out.

A character with over 4 HD can partial muticlass by taking the BAB, HD, skill points, and save for 1 level and gain some of the other class features or another class while keeping their old class features.
You are limited to 2 partial classes and they are not required
The first Partial class causes no penalty
The second Partial class must be your favored class if your first partial class isn't.
Partial classing causes a -2 per partial class penalty to the caster level of all main classes and a loss a 1 skill per partial class on every future HD.

Druids, Paladin, and Monks cannot used as partial classes since they require too much devotion to the class. Thay can skill be main classes.

This is broken, because you get high level spell slots from multiclassing. So you can have a wizard who has other powerful spells.

Otherwise, looks like a great idea.

We are still trying to a find a good penalty for spellcasters who partial class. Originally we imposed a 10% failure chance per partial class and losing the next 5 skill points you gain. We changed it but we might change it back.

You want to break it? That's not overly difficult - your partial spellcasting classes are basically half the spell slots and a reduced caster level, but are otherwise full casters.

Base Class: Barbarian (or whatever class you want to play as primary; Druid works wonders here)
Partial Class: Cleric
Partial Class: Wizard
Take Practiced Spellcaster(Wizard) and Practiced Spellcaster(Cleric) (also Practiced Spellcaster (Main casting class) if you took another casting class).

What you end up with is basically a one and two-halves character. The Druid taking a partial level of Cleric loses very little, but gains two spell slots per spell level. If the Druid later takes a Partial class in Wizard, too, the Druid also has access to any of those nifty Wizard spells the Druid has the Intelligence for. Practiced Spellcaster quickly becomes a required feat, and it gives the Druid a mild case of MAD, but otherwise? In almost all ways, he's more powerful than a straight-up Druid.
