So, for an upcoming game we need a Semi NPC (will be played by a "Sometimes" player, and hence does not have to really fit the campaign, with strong power over Undead (and ideally semi/Undead himself).

Question is, whats the fastest/best way to achieve the following (first game for him will be Level 6, he`ll usually come back around +1 level each), will likely end around level 12-14:

At least 1 permanent undead minion of nontrivial ability and the ability to use Raise Dead
Getting some/most of the Undead Immunities
Being good at necromancy/Dealing with Undead in general.

As the title says, as long as it does in no way result in a fully flexible T1 caster (the focus should be really clear), D&D 3.5 and PF are totally on the table (material must be on the srd or in nonobscure books though^^).

Go Wild!

Oh, Pointbuy PF mode 30pts, racebuilder is allowed but fully undead traits are not, normally we can build noncheesy stuff with up to 18, cheesy with up to 8 pts.
Templates are in, as long as they do not require massive cheese or ahve above LA +3 (LA Buyoff is in).

Dread Necromancer for the class - awesome class that is basically built for necromancy.

Become a Necropolitan - gives you all the undead immunities and gives you d12 HD. The trade-off is that you lose a level+2000XP. But it sounds like the PC won't be there every single session so if you have permission from the DM you can probably just apply the template immediately.

Take the Undead Leadership feat (which you can take as soon as you hit level 6). Gives you a permanent undead cohort with class levels. Give them a class that gives you the Raise Dead spell. The cohort will be two levels lower than the PC, so they won't be able to access the spell immediately.

Gravewalker Archetype Witch
Makes her great at debuffing, grants her several good undead animation spells, and at level 4 gives her complete control over a mindless undead up to her CL (or semi control over an intelligent undead), and at 8th level any undead she controls (either through the use of the above ability or through the use of animation) she can take direct control over using an effect similar to Magic Jar

Alternatively!

Death Master from 3.5's Dragon Compendium book is a necromancer that starts with an undead companion that improves like a druid's animal companion, gets the slew of necromancy spells (which should be broadened to include many of pathfinder's spells) and gets early access to many of the undead related ones (like animate dead at level 3!)

AS for undead races/templates/creatures: Gravetouched Ghoul from 3.5's Libris Mortis is a decent undead template that is only a LA of +1, using pathfinder's race creation rules I'm sure you can get that within 30 points. Roll a base Dhampir. Necropolitan (also from Libris Mortis). Or finally just take the Tomb Tainted Soul feat, it allows you to be healed by negative energy, and then you'll eventually become a full undead creature.
