I am appalled at the lack of gratuitous high explosives in the recent strips. I thought D&D was based around the concept of killing enemy things, and explosive runes is my #3 favorite way of accomplishing that task. I believe I speak for many when I say that runes need a comeback.

Umm... you have to read the runes for them to go off. And those who are illiterate, by definition, can't read. I suppose you could make them some sort of picture, though. I'm not sure how that would work.

I have to second Regeneration, and have to say that damage reduction helps to.
DR won't do you any good - it doesn't apply to damage from "spells, spell-like abilities, and energy attacks (even non-magical fire)".

Regeneration may help, depending on what negates it.

You can't be mildly singed... commoners have d4 hit dice(thus they can be knocked unconcious with a good slap but eh...)

So you're in your negatives now. Even if you had a +3 to CON(which is HIGHLY unlikely), you'd be hurt really bad even if you got all 1s... 6 damage!!

EscherEnigma: A statistic for unique views wouldn't be very accurate: Dynamic IPs and NAT mess up the data. Also, it's a much more expensive operation, algorithmically speaking, than a simple "number of views".

I had a recent mini campaign where an evil wizard tried to kill part of a party by papering the walls with explosive runes.

We were so lucky, and I'll show you why:

Ok, let me try calculate my own HP. Let's see... I have a Cert in Multimedia... that's a level in Expert, isn't it? At least? And I have some karate training... would that give me a level in monk?

I'm a pretty healthy guy, but not especially... a little more healthy than average... Con 12 or 13, then, which is a +1 Modifier. I had the training before the Cert, so assuming average hp rolls, I should have 13 HP.

For those of you using Evasion to escape force damage, there is NO save for the person directly reading the EXPLOSIVE RUNES, just for others in a 10 ft. radius around them. Have a nice day! :smallbiggrin:

Rune Grenade (wondrous item)

This item is little more than a container for a copious amount of Explosive Runes stuffed inside. The wielder must first speak the words of command "One! Two! Five!" "Three my lord..." "Three!" and then hurlest it at thine enemy.

Upon impact the Rune Grenade will cast a single use of Dispel Magic in the area of effect mode. However, the spell is rigged to be ineffective, thus detonating all the Runes contained there in. At this point the target it blown to tiny bits in [your deity's name here]'s mercy.

It is suggested that you keep all your Rune Grenades in a convenient extra dimensional storage space as they tend to be prone to exploding.
