My wizard for Out of the Abyss just hit level 2. And I am trying to find something that matches my PC.

Dwarf treasure hunter who has no combat spells or cantrips. 16 strz 16 con, 14 int; wears armor and uses an axe in combat. All magic is used to help him treasure hunt. Cantrips: mending, mold earth, mage hand. Spells known: jump, detect magic, disguise self. I'm going for spells that don't rely on saving throws too often.

Now I need school to match the flavor.

UA is allowed so long as it's not too strong.

I'm thinking maybe Artifice from the Eberron UA - how is it? Is it too strong?

Transmutation or Conjuration may work, but they don't quite fit the flavor I'm looking for.

What else is out there in UA or 3PP? Are there any schools in any of those magic the gathering crossovers?

Thanks!

A Dwarf Axe wielding Bladesinger!!! hahahaha just kidding

I'd go Abjuration all the way focusing on Defensive spells and debuffing the enemies. Your Arcane Ward would work perfectly with your concept and really help with how squishy Wizards normally are.

A treasure hunter would get the most use out of divination school I think

Divination would be a fairly solid choice, Portent is always useful and a lot of Divination spells are useful for treasure hunting.

This sounds more like a Eldritch Knight to me but anyway,
Abjuration could work as well as divination for looking for your treasure?
