Hey all, I just want to know if anyone knows any good (both in mechanics and in alignment preferably) paladin oaths from non-WotC sources. Conquest looks great and all, but I'm not particularly in the mood for an edgelord or an "I'm doing what's best for you even if you hate me for it" type of character. I'd like to just have someone who is an unquestionable joy to be around and who fits the standard knight in shining armor tropes as best I can. The three oaths in the PHB are sufficient for that purpose, but I'd like to try branching out if I can, and play something I haven't already seen before.

tl;dr I'm looking for fun and reasonably-balanced homebrew paladin oaths that are fimrly in the "good-guy" side of things.

I have an oath of secrets knocking around somewhere - Idea being that knowledge is power and it should not fall into the wrong hands.

Not quite an extra oath as it also does things like swap Cha for Int as a casting stat.

Oath of Discord

1) Any ordered system will fall to tyranny, and should be opposed.

2) Traditions breed subservience and should be broken.

3) The mad are often heralds of truth. So are the wretched, as they are often victims of the order into which they were born. Protect them at all costs.

4) The power of kings and queens is the most dangerous of all, for it conquers the very spirit. Break their thrones.

5) Eat apples every day.

Glad to see this remembered. :)

I noticed the AC was still dex-dependent, though, which really sucks on a STR-based class.

Google "The Oath of the Common Man" for a Communist themed Paladin.

Unfortunately, Paladins don't get access to the Two Weapon fighting style, discouraging a Paladin of the Common Man from fighting with hammer in one hand and sickle in the other.

I've had lots of fun with this Oath of Storms (http://mfov.magehandpress.com/2017/11/oath-of-storms.html), from Middle Finger of Vecna (written by the Knuckle, who's DracoKnight here on the forum)

I frankenstein'd up an Oath of Inquisition for a player of mine from a couple of sources I honestly can't recall. It was well received at the table but I won't speak to its balance. It was also for a very socially driven game.

I can't let this post pass without an internet high-five. Well done. Big fan of action economics.

I've never actually written it up, but I always wanted to see an 'Oath of Bahamut.'

Basically, an Oath specifically designed for campaigns where Paladins ride Metallic Dragons around. Like Dragonlance. Or other worlds where a specific order of Knights is specially designed to work with Metallic Dragons. (Obviously, if the GM is against the paladin riding an adult dragon around, he wouldn't let you take this oath)

While working on a character with a friend of mine for an upcoming game I'm DMing, we stumbled upon one on d&d wiki that wasn't that bad. It was thematic as all hell for what he wanted, both story-wise and ability-wise. There are technically 2 versions of it, but they are practically identical. The only changes I'm making are to the spell list, and the unarmored defense, so that it's dex+cha, not con+cha.

(russian accent) If you're allowed to use a homebrew Oath, give me one reason you can't use a different established fighting style that is thematically appropriate, comrade. Rabochie mira ob"edinjajutsja!* (/russian accent)

jeezus finding a translator that would give me russian in latin characters was a royal pain! Probably on at least one new watch list now lol
