Part of the ability of a Chainlock is support and versatility. You have a mobile, sometimes invisible, scout, trap-tripper, ambush finder and general go-fer.
But I'm dissatisfied with Chain invocations. Though ever-living ones will be awesome for a party low on healing.
With my DM, we invented a low-power-high-versatility option for PotC:
Changeling Servant
When you cast Find Familiar to change the form of your familiar, you may do so as an action instead of the normal casting time.
Hopefully you and/or your DM will enjoy this.
