So..... If, say, you wanted to make just the worst (5e) monster of all time. Something with the body of the tarrasque, and the eyes and abilities of a beholder. How would you do it? What would it's stats be?

Take the Tarrasque and copy paste the offensive abilities of a beholder in its stat block.
Also add a flight speed to that tarrasque or else people will just abuse some sort of flight and win.

Start with drawing a picture. That's the most fun part.

Then read through spell books in search of interesting spells to make into eye rays.

For the worst monster of all time? Tarrasque + Spectator defenses (that spell reflection is flat-out cruel), Beholder flight and rays including legendary actions, adapt Hydra head regen into an eye regen that can increase the number of eye rays even further, and take your pick of your favorite lair action set and give appropriate minions.

Also consider giving it some class levels, or high-level class abilities for extra fun.

In one of my campaigns from a few years ago, the mind flayers got their hands on the tarrasque, thus forming the plot. Bad, bad things happened in that one....

A beholder-hybrid sounds even better, though.
