Hmm not come accross a discussion like this so...

lets have a bit of randomness people, I for one often run around (is this possible on a pseudopod?) waving tentacles in the air, roaring from my mouth which is 90 degrees to the norm and waggling eye stalks at passers-by.

did you all pick an avatar because it was cute, because it appealed to a deep psychological need or just cos it looked cool?

p.s. what do you all think of my disguise as a cute little bunny rabbit?

Picked my avi because it was my newest and (at that time) most-used Guild Wars character. Who happens to look awesome.

Hm, I would have to say yes.

I have black hair, 6 foot 5, so tall and imposing to most, so I suppose my avatar does match it.

Also been described as Tall Dark and Handsome, so pretty much perfect match :smallwink:

I am in fact one of the members of the Beatles. I am also good friends with Alan Moore, and he used me for inspiration when creating Rorschach, which explains my previous avatar. Betcha didn't know any of us Beatles were that crazy :smallwink:

Mine absolutely represents me. I'm the generic big friendly defender of good, happiness and things that rock archetype. I'm ready to rock out at the drop of a bass note, and I wear a chain shirt equivalent made from select scales of a red dragon. Also, I have uncooperative hair and humongous feet.

Basically I'm normally a big lovable furball, but I have some mean teeth when I need to.

In fact, I'm even told I closely resemble my avatar.

Trog
2007-09-10, 09:29 AM
Absolutely not. I am nothing like Trog in real lif -

What a load of crap!

*Trog walks into the room. An uncomfortable sanity questioning silence ensues. Trog lights a coffin Nail. His alter ego coughs slightly and waves at the smoke absently.*

Okay. So I must be dreaming. Have to be.

Whatever you need to tell yourself to sleep nights. Or not sleep nights. Or have dreams all night where you have arguments with your online persona. Whatever your messed up little head does at night. Aside from drool.

You're shorter than I expected.

That's what she said. Then the bed broke.

I... I can't even talk to you. It's like talking to a walking retort machine. You... you don't even converse for God's sake! You just wander in and make crass remarks. You're lewd and you always jump to the worst... the lowest possible conclu-

And you don't? :smallconfused: Is that what you're telling Trog?

Er... well no. Of course no-

EERRRRRR! Wrong! Lies! If you don't do it then how can Trog do it? Hmm? Smartasss?

Well you know you actually have a good poin- WAIT A MINUTE! This is insane! You don't even exist! *Looks around for hidden cameras*

Trog moved the porn if that's what you were looking for.

I... *sigh*

Anyways this conversation is boring the hell out of Trog. Trog's gonna go hit the bars and drink himself into oblivion.

*starts to walk out then pauses in the open doorway.* Designated Driver?

*Sigh* Sure... what the hell.

Good. Cause Trog can't reach the damn pedals. Even on your tiny car. *flicks the cigarette into the yard and fishes out another one*

*Grabs keys and follows Trog out the door*

Hey can we swing by someplace and get some Trogtilla chips? Trog always wanted to try thos- *puffs*

They don't exist. I made them up.

...

Trog hates you sometimes, you know that? :smallannoyed:

*Shuts door*

Well the charter my Avatar is based on is a lot like me. The Avatar its self, what can't you make magic missiles?

I'm da Rogue!
2007-09-10, 09:46 AM
I made an avatar request for Cassandra, my current avie, because she's the character I've been playing for some years now.

She's from the d20 system- Game Of Thrones (based on Martin's series):
some levels as a knave (rogue), man-at-arms(fighter) and prestige class Waterdancer:smallsmile:

I put the "sneak" on my own, 'coz I'm a very roguish person. My hair colour is like my avatar's, although my skin is pale.

Syka
2007-09-10, 09:52 AM
My avatar changes depending on the theme. I'm not a fox, no, but all the themes have been something I enjoy. Like, I love my zombie fox (and I love this pirate fox, too), because those are little things I'm interested in.

The pirate will probably be sticking around until Halloween when the zombie reappears. Then after Halloween it's the Grinch's time again. :)

Cheers,
Syka

There is a certain amount of dischord between my username and avatar. Avatar is an evil near middle eastern style wizard that has since been turned into a crocodile. Not like me at all. I'm a softy really. But I do have good teeth.

My username, in contrast, is an idiot name. This is intentional as previously, elsewhere online, I've used pompous names and then had to spend my precious time agonising over post content, prose and style. By having an idioyt name it allows my to say to myself "none of this is as serious as real life".

Meh.

It's a drowish thing. Drow like spiders(I like spiders), are twisted and evil(Yep, yep), and the ones hanging out with the surface races feel isolated and distant from everyone they meet(Yep.)

Currently, it's got playing with legos(I likes legos), a teddy(*hugs her teddies*), and a pie.

Come to think of it, pie doesn't actually describe me much....It's just a random thing that came from an ol' Kiss/Kill post...

Strangely enough, in real life I'm not actually a pie-obsessed maniac. :smalltongue:

Yeah, kinda. I want to be more like Kurono, actually. I feel identified with the character in many aspects, but unlike him I haven't totally earned the strength that self-determination gives you. I guess I'm a figther too, an underdog. An underachiever who's about to show the world how much he's worth.

I was thinking of changing it though, I'd like to eventually make avatars of all my favorite characters from the awesome manga that is Gantz. I was thinking Masaru Katou, alone or with Anzu...Or Reika, that would be cool.

I should think not. Bones is, well, pretty much as far from me as you can get. He's a kobold, I'm a rather tall human person. He's a charismatic extrovert, I'm a soft-spoken introvert. He's a CE manic sociopath, I'm a NG (with LG tendencies) liberal arts major with a mild hero complex. He likes to swim and sail the sea, wheras I get seasick on anything more rocky than a swimming pool (and even then, I prefer a hot tub).

Physically, my avatar doesn't look much like me. My hair is much messier, I'm usually clean-shaven, and my head isn't that disproportionately large. I can't do magic, and I don't own an axe, an ankh, or plate armor. Oh, and I'm about 30 years younger than my avatar looks. Still, the color scheme reflects how I dress pretty accurately.

Personality-wise? I'm easily annoyed, highly judgmental, act a lot more like a cranky old man than like a normal 17-year-old, am kind of anti-happiness, religious, and strongly believe in fighting for the greater good. So, yes.

For personality reflection, yes. Blue is both an instantaneous attention grabber for me, and holds a special meaning to me in other ways. Soft and emotional, calm, various aspects associated with blue. Yet, I also burst out, and am rather hyper at other times - a very different aspect - and adore attention at times; rather cat like. The red string even has an underlying meaning to it.

Also, I have an affinity for cats. I cost 1 less to play for each cat in play.

I guess it does. But only in that he's kinda mysterious, with snazzy glasses.. Other than that, I'm a complete leader/control freak, while Vuzzmop is being summoned, probably to bring about someone elses apocalypse.

Hmm...seeing as most of my avatars have been musicians...yes. As for Taliesin...well, I have long hair and would totally wear a feathered cloak if I could find one. I'll say yes.

On a more personality level, I think they do in most ways. Jeff Buckley was definitely me:

Taliesin is in ways too, I think. Just the general nature of him as a bard and poet, I guess.

Well, aside from the red eyes and magicalness, yes(I'm purposefully leaving the sword and robes in).

I am Warlord Zsinj

But Zsinj wears the white of a grand admiral.

...and no my avatar does not reflect my personality, I am not Laurence of Arabia.
