You always need more space for battles, it would be cool if the entire table had a grid, I tried looking online for white tablecloth with a simple black square grid of 1 inch, but I couldn't find one

Higher-end gift wrapping papers tend to have a 1" square grid on the back side to make it easier to cut. Hallmark brand is pretty good about that.

Yup. This is a threefeet by ten feet or more battle grid.

You can get vinyl playing mats that are big enough for an entire table. They typically have the 1 inch square grid (some have a hex grid on the opposite side), and you can draw on them with wet-erase markers.

Yeah - I have one of those. Not cheap, but it's pretty awesome.

I've never actually used the whole thing, but it's handy to have the surface for writing down initiative etc.

A MUCH cheaper option which I wish I'd done initially is to have a banner printed with a grid on it. I got one printed with a specific map for the intro session of the RPG I'm designing. Many of them know about this market and actually have a 1" grid as a default setting. It'll run you about $40 for 4'x8' including shipping. Check here - https://www.bannersonthecheap.com/rpg-maps-and-banners - though it looks like they might only have hex grids, it shouldn't be hard to find a square grid to upload.

Would a checkered tablecloth (https://www.amazon.com/LinenTablecloth-102-Inch-Rectangular-Tablecloth-Checker/dp/B008TL7EK6) work? I'm not sure the sizing of the squares on that, but it looks close-ish.

Edit: Alternatively, if you just want some grids, you could just buy the checkered gingham at a fabric store.

It appears to be about 56 squares wide in the 60 inch direction, so yes, it's pretty close.

If you look for plaid fabric/tablecloth/etc you'll find some things, but they may not be exactly 1" squares. This was the first somewhat-promising one I found: https://www.amazon.com/ColorBird-Tablecloth-Waterproof-Tabletop-Decoration/dp/B077859GKJ/ref=sr_1_12?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1531266363&sr=1-12&keywords=plaid+fabric

If you live in an area with a big fabric store, I'd suggest going there in person and browsing to see if you can find something that'll work. In terms of DIY sewing projects, it's really easy to hem the edges of a big rectangle, so you can just buy fabric by the yard if you find a suitable print.

Find a blank plastic table cloth.

Sharpie a 1 inch grid on it yourself.

It will take some time, but based on what your looking for, probably the best solution, as long as you have some time on your hands that is.
