View Full Version : Can't install Visual Studio 2017

I've been trying to install Visual Studio 2017 for the past few days. It keeps failing, and I can't figure out why. I've looked all over the internet, trying to find a solution. Unfortunately, none of the solutions I've found have worked. I've run InstallCleaner several times, and done a bunch of other things that I can't remember right now. Nothing has worked. Can anyone help me? Thanks.

If you've already followed the instructions here (link (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/visualstudio/install/remove-visual-studio)), then I'd physically go delete any remaining files then delete the registry entries with regedit. Word of warning, messing about with regedit can permanently screw up your machine, forcing a restore from the last backup or a complete re-install, so if you're not comfortable doing that, I suggest finding professional help or someone with the technical knowledge to do so.

There are some other programs on the market that will help get rid of mis-installed programs (I like CCleaner myself) and will also provide registry backups to in-screw your machine in case anything breaks.

Edit: Huh, you edited the original post between my reading and hitting reply. Just to double check, you are installing Visual Studio on an administrator account?

I waited for more like 13 hours. But, in any case it seems like it was all for nothing. My problem was caused by a broken symbolic link on my C: drive. I deleted it, and the installation worked. Thanks anyway for trying to help. Also, sorry for being impatient.
