Alter Self question

I've been reading through several old posts about using Alter Self to change into a Midgard Dwarf to gain the bonus crafting feats since Alter self gives you the bonus racial feats of a creature, however Alter Self has a HD cap of 5 for what you change into, and Midgard Dwarves have 8 HD, am I missing something on how people are doing this?

Possibly with Reserves of Strength feat? It either increases spell caps by 3 or removes them completely depending on how you read it. Regardless, either reading works well enough for this use.

That feat really can be amazing, I've only ever used it once (on a Paladin of all things). Depending on how you interpret it, its almost a requirement for epic level games IMO with "fixing capped" spells especially buffs.

In addition, it's also possible people mixed it up with dwarf ancestor, who's got 5hd
