So, to get it out of the way, you can't take a 5 ft step when you take a move action. Can you use a movement action from a feat and a 5 ft step? Example: the Psionic Meditation feat allows you to gain psionic focus with a move action instead of a full round action. Would I be able to do a standard action, gain psionic focus as a move action, and then 5 ft step?

5 foot steps aren't restricted by move actions in any way, shape, or form. They're restricted by you moving, regardless of what action it takes. So if you Sudden Leaped as a swift action, you couldn't 5-foot step afterwards, even though you haven't use a move action, because you have moved.

Conversely, things that aren't movement don't impede your ability to take 5-foot steps at all. Psionic focus, messing around with your inventory, directing spells, drawing weapons....none of these stop a five-foot step.

You can move 5 feet in any round when you don’t perform any other kind of movement. Taking this 5-foot step never provokes an attack of opportunity. You can’t take more than one 5-foot step in a round, and you can’t take a 5-foot step in the same round when you move any distance.
