So I'm creating this sorcerer character for a Pathfinder game and I need to choose equipment, but I'm not very good at equipping characters and especially not magic users. So I've decided to come to the forum for help.

We're using automatic bonus progression (http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/unchained/magic/automaticBonusProgression.html), so I don't need any items that boost ability scores, saving throws, and so on. Our budget it 16,000 gp. There is no specific limit to how expensive any particular item can be, but, unless something is very good, I'd like to keep it at a maximum of 7,000 gp. Everything official paizo is free game.

Do you guys have any suggestions as to what items would be particularly useful for a sorcerer?

Scrolls
Wands
Lesser metamagic rods
Unfettered Shirt (seriously 1/day 10min FoM for 10k)
Clawhand Shield
Handy Haversack
Pages of Spell Knowledge
Borrow Beads

No particular order and without knowing your build or party I can't be too much more specific

Off the bat, you want everything on the cheap core equipment (http://www.geekindustrialcomplex.com/articles/good-cheap-core-equipment-everyone-should-have) list. Not magical, and useful for any character. There is also the master list of magic items (https://www.reddit.com/r/Pathfinder_RPG/comments/2cv8z8/master_list_of_essentialuseful_magic_items/) of which you won't need the big six as automatic bonus progression covers that.

For items not on the list, I really like gloves of arrow snaring for casters and other fragile characters that tend to be archer bait. Hiding behind your frontliners archers will try to ping you. Obviously less useful if non humanoid enemies are common. Depending on your bloodline/build, a sorcerer's robe (https://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic-items/wondrous-items/wondrous-items/r-z/robe-sorcerer-s) is a great buy. A robe of arcane heritage (https://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic-items/wondrous-items/wondrous-items/r-z/robe-of-arcane-heritage/) is possibly on your wishlist, but would blow your budget. If you are a shapeshifter build, a shifter's headband (https://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic-items/wondrous-items/wondrous-items/h-l/headband-shifter-s) is a must have. Since you are using automatic bonus progression, a +6 headband is well within your budget.

Since you are not going to need a ring of protection or a belt, a meridian belt (https://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic-items/wondrous-items/wondrous-items/a-b/meridian-belt) and a bunch of rings would allow you to have tons of options. Freedom of movement and insivibility are good rings to have albeit expensive. A hand of glory (https://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic-items/wondrous-items/wondrous-items/h-l/hand-of-glory) allows you to have a 3rd active ring, and you don't need your neck slot for the amulet of natural armor.

Your perception won't be great anyways, so it might be handy to invest in some deathwatch eyes (https://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic-items/wondrous-items/wondrous-items/e-g/eyes-deathwatch). In addition to knowing if enemies are close to death, this auto pings undead, great for things playing dead that are undead(or alive) and NPC's who are vampires or liches.

Spellguard bracers (https://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic-items/wondrous-items/wondrous-items/a-b/spellguard-bracers) are very strong choices if you plan to cast in combat. A tunic of careful casting (https://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic-items/wondrous-items/wondrous-items/r-z/tunic-of-careful-casting/) does not allow rerolls but applies to all concentration checks. Both are good, I tend to think spellguard are better.

. A robe of arcane heritage (https://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic-items/wondrous-items/wondrous-items/r-z/robe-of-arcane-heritage/) is possibly on your wishlist, but would blow your budget.

I have long wanted to play a Mongrel Mage with one of these.
