View Full Version : Pathfinder Battlemind Monk (Unchained Monk)

This here is an unchained monk archetype replacing ki pool and ki powers with a pseudo-rage ability. This is essentially the same as an unchained barbarian of two levels lower, except using wisdom rather than constitution, and it causes her to lose her AC bonus rather than taking an AC penalty. Additionally, it doesn't restrict the actions available to her. Take a look!

Battle Focus (Ex):
A battlemind monk can call upon inner reserves of strength and ferocity, granting her additional combat prowess. At 3rd level, a battlemind monk can use battle focus for a number of rounds per day equal to 4 + her Wisdom modifier. For each level after 3rd she possesses, the battlemind monk can use battle focus for 2 additional rounds per day. Temporary increases to Wisdom do not increase the total number of rounds that a battlemind monk can use battle focus per day. A battlemind monk can enter a battle focus as a free action. The total number of rounds of battle focus per day is renewed after resting for 8 hours, although these hours need not be consecutive.
While in a battle focus, a battlemind monk gains a +2 bonus on melee attack rolls, melee damage rolls, thrown weapon damage rolls, and Will saving throws. In addition, she loses the benefits of her AC Bonus class feature. She also gains 2 temporary hit points per Hit Die. These temporary hit points are lost first when a character takes damage, disappear when the battle focus ends, and are not replenished if the battlemind monk enters a battle focus again within 1 minute of her previous battle focus.
A battlemind monk can end her battle focus as a free action, and is fatigued for 1 minute after a battle focus ends. A battlemind monk canít enter a new battle focus while fatigued or exhausted, but can otherwise enter a battle focus multiple times per day. If a battlemind monk falls unconscious, her battle focus immediately ends.
This ability replaces Ki Pool

Rage Powers
As a battlemind monk gains levels, she learns to use her battle focus in new ways. Starting at 4th level, a battlemind monk gains a rage power, as a barbarian of her monk level - 2. She gains another rage power for every two levels of monk attained after 4th level. A battlemind monk gains the benefits of rage powers only during battle focus. Unless otherwise noted, a battlemind monk cannot select an individual power more than once.
This ability replaces Ki Powers

The following rage power is available to Battlemind Monks:
Battlemind Flurry (Ex)
As a swift action, a battlemind monk can make one additional unarmed strike at her highest attack bonus when making a flurry of blows attack during a battle focus. This bonus attack stacks with all bonus attacks gained from flurry of blows, as well as those from haste and similar effects.

Perfect Self
A Battlemind Monk recovers rounds of battle focus while in a state of calm, rather than Ki points.
