In the #1133 thread, people are discussing why some dwarves have the iconic accent and others don't, so I've decided to compile all he dwarves we've seen speak (a decent amount) throughout the comic. Please point out any dwarf I may have missed. It is of course worth noting that the accent is inconsistent even when it comes to a single dwarf.

Have the Accent:

Durkon Thundershield
High Priest Hurak
Brewmaster Blackore
Kaboom Redaxe (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0229.html)
Sigdi Thundershield
Dwarf who fell (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0947.html)
Thor's nuts guy
Kandro
Hoskin
Logann
Tenrin Thundershield (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0991.html) (crayon)

Rogo (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots1094.html)

Sabine (as dwarven blacksmith (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0134.html))
Vampire Durkon (over time)
Young Thirden (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0958.html) (inconsistent (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots1129.html))

Dungeon of Dorukan builder #2 (crayon)
Dungeon of Dorukan builder #3 (crayon)
Duergar Arms Smuggler (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0531.html)

The dwarven assassin has some accent:

but it's not quite as "Scottish" as Durkon's is.

Impressive work!

Might be a sociolect thing, since there doesn't seem to be a geographic pattern. It doesn't seem to depend on rank or social status either, although most characters you'd consider high rank seem not to speak with the accent. Might be more of an ethnolect then, but one where the ethnic group has nothing to do with race. Or maybe the dwarves as a whole are in the process of transitioning from a native dialect to a foreign one, and it varies from one family to the next. Or perhaps this is the result of relatively recent internal migration and they're simply dialects after all. Or perhaps we could imagine a world where Scots gets revitalized and it coexists with English on a similar footing and without the diglossia.

I must thank the thread creator for his diligent comic-combing. I also agree that now that I'm looking at the whole list of Dwarves with/without the accent, it does seem more likely that it's not geography based particularly strongly.

I would also be curious to hear from our Scottish posters as to how accurate the accent is portrayed with Durkon and the other dwarves with said accent.

Clearly, what we're observing is the generational change in pronunciation - no doubt due to influence of the BBC, once more relentlessly spreading their Received Pronunciation through the airwaves and quashing local dialects, even among quasi-Hibernian fictional humanoids.

Damn those southern bastards.

Not Scottish, but very familiar with the various accents north of the border.

In Scotland, Durkon's accent would be noticed as patchy and often inaccurate, somewhat like an American doing a pretty good imitation, but... since Durkon is neither in Scotland nor Scottish, it's somewhat immaterial.

Thank you for compiling this list! It's something I wanted to do but wouldn't have had the time/patience to. I'm glad the forum exists so we can share, and build on, wheels instead of reinventing them!

You forgot the three dungeon-building dwarves who spoke with a "normal" accent (#276).

To be honest, I'd always thought those were just bearded gnomes. Couldn't imagine a dwarf saying "rumpus room."

Of course, that was before gnomes had appeared in-comic, IIRC.
