Some of it belonged to Kholand commandos and Geofeian resistance who failed in their missions. We reconditioned it and removed most of the blood. Use what you can. Give the rest to the resistance you will create. GET GOING!"

You are in a clearing surrounded by fir trees and brush. The crate is in the middle of your formation.

"BULLDOG" comes a challenge from somewhere in the trees. One of you replies "LIPSTICK".

An elf in camo-gear materializes by shifting an inch out of shadow. He signals 'THIS WAY' indicating a trail. 4 of you grab the crate and all of you move down the trail.

It is late fall. It hasn't snowed in a few days but there are still pockets of snow in the shadows.

The trail winds. It is barely a trail at all, and suddenly it splits into a dozen indistinct tracts, none of which seems better than the others. You pause in indecision, but before a second passes the elf issues a bird call, which is immediately answered from a bush 2 meters away. The bush shifts silently and a second elf waves you into the new path. This path dead ends at a large pile of boulders after 20 meters.

The elves walk past you and make a sharp turn into the boulders and disappear. You follow. The play of light and shadow conceals a cave entrance.

It is a large cave.

In the crate you find:
A shortbow +1 for each of you, with 1 quiver of +1 arrows, and 1 quiver with 10 silver, and 9 cold iron arrows. and one arrow of giant slaying.
A hand crossbow for each of you with 15 bolts, one of which is a bolt of giant slaying.
A bandoleer for each of you with 3 alchemist fire, 3 acid flasks, 3 smoke sticks, and a glowrod.
A second bandoleer for each of you with 2 viles of cure minor wound, 2 potion of CLW, 2 of CMW, and 1 of CSW.

5 cans of preserved ravens (if you know the magic word it is a live raven that can carry a message home)

Refur looked left and right and after nobody started to look at the gear, the dwarf stepped forward to took what he could need most. Since he had a fitting armor and a weapon he was extra trained with, as well as a cloak and boots, he decided for the package with the two rings, the shortsword and the javelins [number 5]

Then he walked through the other stuff and found a set with corned beef, iron spikes and 1 jar of hair vitamins [number 6] Exactly what he was looking for. The wilderness isn't good for his hair.

Weasel scans through the items. There are many useful objects, and enough weapons to gear up a small militia. The weapons, as usually, are too large for him. He wonders if he could use some of the materials to craft better suiting gear for the team.
Then he fixes his eyes on a small silver ring.

This is the only object I would need from all this. But I understand the convenience of someone else carrying it. It makes you invisible at will. The spellbooks are redundant for me. But I could use the spare pages.

He shows everyone the ring. Waiting for their opinion.

Meanwhile he puts the bow and the arrows inside his efficient quiver.

One elf replies, "Ivar Nosnra is the Chieftain. There has been so much activity lately that we have no clear count on enemy numbers. They have been gathering for two weeks now, but have still been sending out raiding parties. Perhaps 80 Hill giants, a half dozen stone giants, a dozen ogres, and maybe 20 bugbears. A large number of orcs have gone in and a few have been seen working in the gardens, but otherwise none have been seen coming out. We saw one fog giant go in 3 days ago. Spotted another huge Giant but couldn't get a good enough look to identify. They have a dozen wolves, at least 2 dire wolves, and a worg."

Weasel doesn't like this the sightless.


They have a high-level wizard with them. And they are very well prepared against magical scrying. Perhaps against teleportation too. These Hill Giants are not an ordinary group. Their breed doesn't generally have access to these spells, and surely they don't have the wits to use them so effectively.

He takes out his spellbook, one dedicated exclusively to divination.

I might need to prepare something special for tomorrow.

Seeing no other takers, Chet takes the spear, magic bracers and displacer cloak. When the others are done selecting, he puts the rest of the full-size arrows into his haversack and removes his leather armor in favor of the bracers.

Weasel had a rough night. The idea of the telepath or wizard who blocked his scrying obsessed him.

First thing in the morning he prepared his incantations and protected himself against scrying.

Then he debriefed the elves a little bit more. Seizing initiative from the higher ranked barbarian, who just wasn't an able leader. If command hadn't decided Weasel was too sharp and deadly to promote him, he would have been a full-fledged general by now.

I'm getting too old for this ****.

He thought to himself.

It would seem that an aerial incursion into the complex would be the best idea. Parachuting in the garden somehow. Or teleporting right in.

That's actually a good idea. Corporal. But we don't know if there are lower levels below the fortification. We might find a stone wall or something similar. But it is a pretty good way of at least approaching the complex and get some eyes.

We need to find out if there are prisoners or civilians.

The elves show you the path, and it leads you to the edge of a forest. 1000 yards away is the giants' compound. Stumps from cleared trees stretch across the land you must cross.

This land was recently old growth forest and is uneven. It flattens out nearer the compound and the road. Moving though the gullies, low crawling in places, you are able to get within 300 ft of the road and compound, on the right side.

Meanwhile the bats and Weasel overfly the compound. There is a light in the tower on the left side of the gatehouse., and a giant sized silhouette. Flying high directly above the compound to avoid being spotted, they can't make out anything else in the tower.

Outside the main door on the right side of the gate house is a glowing brazier. A lone figure too small to be a giant, and too large to be a human, stands near the brazier.

Flying by the wall gate 100 ft to the right of the compound, the tower to the left of the gate there is unoccupied.

The bats overfly the ground team and report.

Through the com spell, an odd voice breaks in: COME JOIN ME BELOW...

It is even keying in on your empathic companion frequencies!.

Are you staying together or splitting up? Front door or wall? Tunnel or snipe and door kick?

I have had it... Weasel thinks to himself. As the voice breaks through the secure channel of communication.

He calls forth a spell (sasting prying eyes). [roll0] Eyes appear, his own eyes multiplied. And float around him and Battilio.

He's has had it. The Unit seems unreliable and irresponsible. As it usually is with infantry. Particularly grunts like the barbarian. He carefully words his petition to the eyes.

go forth. Find entrances and windows. Stay away from guards. Find humanoids that are not giants. Do not engage.


And the eyes fly up to a mile away. He remains hoovering around. From a safe distance. Increasingly impatient. Playing with some bat guano...


If nothing else-he thinks- I'll nuke them from above and gas the bastards.

"I'm guessing 'COME JOIN ME BELOW' isn't the underground resistance," Chet whispers through the comm spell. "But these scum will need more than psych tactics to keep me from burrowing. Takes a few minutes. Goin'ta start behind the nettles where the tailings won't be visible." He begins crawling back toward the brushy area the giants haven't clear-cut yet, trusting Weasel as the eye-in-the-sky to warn him of any suspicion or activity.

Two of the eyes Fly over the middle of the compound to a chimney on the left side, treat you to a tear inducing vision of blinding smoke, embers and flame, apron clad hill giants tending boiling pots and scorching sides of beef, aproned ogers and flower dusted orcs, a room filled with barrels and spilling sags and crates of potatoes, down a staircase into caves pass a pair of bugbears with whips, a passage with chained pickaxe weilding orcs, some pushing wheel barrows, a bug bear manning a barricade, an orc armed with a cross bow, a partially collapse passage, murals of robed figures with tentacles for limbs, a hall of columns radiating purple, a translucent yellow alter the suddenly is made of withering beetles..and then the channel is high jacked by someone rapidly channel surfing between a cephalpoid porn site and BUG WARS on fast forward while a used car salesman voice chants offers to buy your soul cheap chaos has the best COOKIES!

Weasel: The other eyes in no particular order....



3: follows a small flock of sparrows that land on the window seal of the compound watch tower. There is a glowing brazier, a hill giant eating a leg of...horse?...and a bugbear looking suspiciously at the birds. the eye backs off and hovers above the tower.

4: watches the wolves in the courtyard. Seems there were more direwolves then you were told. They start growling at the eye. A shaggy hill giant emerges from the kennel, looks around til he spots the eye. the Eye doesn't move even as the giant points at it. The channel is cut to a glimpse of canine teeth.

5: Enters the barn to the NW of the compound. Observes stalls of Jumbo ponies and a saber-toothed dire llama chewing cud.

6: A brazer glows at the gate between the wolf area and the eastern garden. There is a bugbear on duty. The eye hides behind the pumpkins.

7: North of the barn is a dilapidated fowl coop. A dire turkey sneaks out of it and pecks the surrounding vegetation.

8: In the middle of the west wall of the compound is a door, guarded by a bugbear with a brazier.

9/10: On the west side of the compound are two long buildings. Their doors are unguarded.

11: On the north side of the compound is a gate leading to the wolf area. Standard bugbear guard post.

Ok. It will take a while for the Badgers to get there.

The windows, for there is one on each side of the tower, are too small most large creatures, but direbat fold themselves into smaller than expected crevices every day to roost, so they can both join you in attacking the tower, .... Or go pick off the other bugbear sentries.

Weasel is taking this tower by himself. He mentally calls battilio and they both go inside the building. Once inside Weasel casts Polymorph on himself and battilio (I was saving it to transform our barbarian into a 10 headed hydra of destruction, but the game is getting stalled so)


They both turn into Grey Renders

Room details: you are near the bottom of a stairwell on the west side of the gate house. East to west, it is 120 ft. North south 60 ft. On the far East wall is the double doors heading out side. On the north wall are 3 doors. One single door 5 ft from each end of the room, and a double door in the center of the wall. These head deeper into the Steading.

Near the exterior door you see another hill giant and 2 ogres'.

(sorry for lag. Everyone in the household took a turn being sick last week. Between 3 school systems and the baby we get hit from all directions sometimes)

The stone Giants are getting shreaded and are taken aback by the sudden freocious assault. They try to withdraw.

since we are doing this solo, you can make the rolls. I'd also understand if you want to focus on the other games where there are more players
