Taken from DMG pg. 294:

"Discerning a creature in gaseous form from natural mist requires a DC 15 Spot check. Creatures in gaseous form attempting to hide in an area with mist, smoke, or other gas gain a +20 bonus."

I was wondering how difficult they would be to see, if not in an area with one of the substances listed above. Would it be just as easy as if they were not in gaseous form?

Ie. A wizard in human form is just as easily spotted as a wizard in gaseous form?

Indeed, they''re not any harder to see. However, depending on Spot check results, it's entirely possible to see them, and then confuse them for normal mist. Curiously located, mind, but normal mist.

Unless a spell specifically says it does something (like make you harder to see), it doesn't.
