Finally starting this online campaign!!

https://rpg.rem.uz/Pathfinder/Adventure%20Paths/PF103-108%20Hell%27s%20Vengeance/Hell%27s%20Vengeance%20-%20Player%27s%20Guide.pdf

FIRST NOTE
- Hell's Vengeance is going to be WEIRD, you have to ABIDE BY THE LAWS and learn where to be light or heavy handed in evil actions, so that you gain favor with the powers of Cheliax and then you may later twist the laws to your favor and be almost as evil as you want. LG/LN are actually GOOD alignments for the campaign strangely enough!
- Murder-hobos get destroyed in this AP, think more like you're keeping the Sheople alive and placated while you hunt down rebellions and burn them at the stake to show just who is the power of your town.
- Read up on Ultimate Intrigue, because it was released just before Chapter 2, and Chapter 2 is like its little whore for playtesting it.
- The crazier your actions in the beginning the less power you'll have, because the rebellion will grow stronger out of retaliation.

Players should create characters that are willing to work for House Thrune and strive to help it achieve its goals--namely, defeating the forces of the Glorious Reclamation and keeping the current government of Cheliax in place. To accomplish this, the PCs will need to work together, not against each other, in support of something far greater than themselves. Hell's Vengeance doesn't support player vs. player conflict--that's not what the campaign's plot is about. House Thrune can't afford to fail, and so its agents (the PCs) can't be allowed to undermine its goals with petty personal squabbles.

I'll be updating things later

A quick example of how to use the forum

this is a spoiler
Use [spoiler*]content[/*spoiler]

Without the *

To place a lable on your spoiler use [spoiler*=lable]content[/*spoiler]
Without the *

[roll*]1d20+5[/*roll] without the *

The first number is the amount of dice to roll
Second number is the largest number on the dice ex 20,100,6,14 etc
The + can also be a - if you have a negative to the roll
And the last number is the amount you add or subtract from the roll.

This is what the out put looks like for 2d6+2

Alright everyone! Time to build out your characters via Myth-Weavers.com ! It really makes things super organized for you!

Make backstories flexible, it must involve loyalty of some sort towards House Thrune, or the availability of being a hired mercenary for them. The beginning of this AP features someone recruiting for the House, looking for criminal folks to pledge themselves to Thrune. So you don't have to be directly related/working with Thrune in the beginning as it will be taken care of as long as you're not conflicting about it.

Quick request, just for legality checking and what have you, can we list our feats like this?

Level Gained : *Class Granted/Race Granted* : Name

eg. 1st lvl Human Bonus Feat - Two Weapon Fighting
eg. 1st lvl Racial - Improvisation

Also, make the column off to the right list all the feats the feat tax grant, eg. Power Attack etc (in case it isn't listed Piranha Strike is valid too)

List abilities as Class Abilities or Race Abilities (CA / RA) before their respective names.

It'll also make organizing them easy and keep track of feats for the purpose of if you ever retrain.

Ok First I would like to greatly apologize to everyone for the ridiculously LONG wait. I know it has taken me forever to finish this character and I didn't mean to bog down our start but I really needed to flesh this character out. Since forum play is going to be so much more heavily role played I had to have a great foundation. I had to do a lot of research to get this going so I hope we can make this last.
To Oruk and Leopold: You probably already heard this from me over text or in person but thanks for helping weave our backstories together. I tried to capture everyone's likeness in the brief time I wrote them. Tell me what you guys think.
To Nathan-the-Anon: I know you have one more npc you want to weave into this so please tell me about it and tell me what you think we can do.

Hey, the NPC should be finished by Wednesday! Actually forcing the issue of getting time to do something other than watch Brendan, which they don't like me just; "Sitting there and playing games while he goes havoc on the living room." :P

Secondly, the NPC is really simple to weave in! They're a House Thrune representative to gauge your usefulness/skills while giving advice related to the module and its unique point system that players have to balance without actually KNOWING the exact points. I will be altering the point system, Rebel Points, while running every change I make with Co-DM Josh who's really just there for encounter advice and battle building or managing the map because I may or may not be really really really lazy with using Paint and splotches >.>;

So you don't have to know them, but you will know they're trustworthy as long as you're loyal to the House. Should you, the players, choose to end loyalty to the house they are obligated to at least attempt to kill you. I don't want to railroad ya, but it is an adventure path we're running and it won't be easy..... I hope, to kill them.

I'll update ASAP!

The town of Longacre sits just outside the fringes of the Whisperwood. A few lights shine in the streets and windows, and the occasional snippet of conversation or laughter can be heard from open windows and doors, but here on the outskirts of town, the night is quiet and dark. With the rare cloud occasionally obscuring the light of the moon. The compound sits in the distance, dimly lit by the midnight sky.

Cimri points toward the structure, confirming the group's suspicions that this was the target for the small heist. "That's it, Louslik Tannery. As instructed before, we break in and take anything not nailed down to the floor that's worth a pretty little gold. The rendezvous point is the Ash House, at dawn, should anything happen..... Which it better not."

Cimri pulls out her dagger and flicks it in the direction of "Ghost", "She's here to watch, not save our asses. Good luck and don't **** this up because this is MY ticket into the House, and your ticket to go further in it."

Ghost turns towards Oruk and sighs, then turns her head to Kallous begins to speak but pauses. "Leopold, I'd suggest you be the one to sneak around and bring back entry ideas for Cimri and Kallous, Kallous I trust you'll make the wisest decision or the most efficient decision..... and Oruk, well if we want to go loud.... Yeah."
She looks up to the tree beside her and a crack of a whip is heard then Ghost disappears into the tree with a final farewell message, "I'll be watching."

Watching "Ghost" climb the tree I say to my associates. " I will go and quietly go around the tannery and look for any openings, places to climb up and back doors or windows that can be opened with out raising the attention of the guards. I will be back, If thing go to the Abyss, Kallous make the decision that you think is the best." and with that I start to move slowly and stealthily around the tannery keeping my eyes open for anything in the dark grabbing my torch stone and placing it in my pocket.

Kallous looks briefly towards the tannery before turning back to his remaining associates.
"I don't see the point in moving in without some ability to scout ahead but if that is what we have established then far be it from me to speak against the skills of those who can be quiet of boot," he says softly, "If we can make use of any of the trees surrounding the tannery then I can use simple magics to help us get a better idea of what awaits us beyond it's walls and seeing as how I can actually see out here" he gestures to the night soaked area, " Then perhaps I can actually make myself useful."

*turns to Cimri* "So what has you so interested in the great house Thrune, girl?"
"And on top of that what exactly are we doing this for; 'Ghost' didn't exactly spill words about how this furthers our causes as she usually does and I would prefer to understand why my talents are being wasted on skullduggery and repossession."

Oruk leans against a tree fiddling with his locked gantlet to make sure that it is firmly locked onto his sap. He growls to no one in particular “Why the hell are we robbing a tannery? What the hell do they got other then free smells?” Not particularly caring about the answer just needing something to distract himself from the stench that is assaulting him. He looks out at the building trying to find a weak point in the walls or gate that he could exploit to make a hole.

He knows it wouldn’t be quiet but the faster that he can stop smelling the tannery the better.

As you make your way down toward the Tannery the log palisade surrounding the it is more clearly visible. Dry and rotted wooden trunks serving as a barrier to most beasts attracted to the awful stench of the place, and deterrents to would-be-thieves if the smell alone wasn't enough.
They stand a simple ten feet tall and seem easily climbable, there is also a 10 foot wide gate in the front. Clearly a mechanical lift operates the gate, or these Tannery workers employ a man with the strength of a troll to lift it for them.
Though this is just the front of the palisade, you could make your way around the entire area or just climb up to see what's inside.

Clearly ramshackle in design, the wooden logs made into the palisade that guards the place wouldn't stand a chance against you. The gate that you see even less so. The smell, however; you probably couldn't get rid of it by burying the place 30 feet into the ground.
Though you do have a hard time because of your eyesight making out any details, just the lopsided nature of the logs tell you enough that it isn't that sturdy.
Anything you could smell is either covered by the stench of lime, rotten eggs and something far worse that you can't quite pin down.

Cimri turns to Kallous and looks a little offended. "Well for one I get paid, and secondly that little bastard Ol' Louslik hasn't been paying his taxes... You know like us good, law-abiding citizens. As for why I want to work for the great House of Thrune, isn't that obvious? They have money, they have power and that's all that concerns me. I get paid, and don't have to worry that my employer isn't good for what they offer." She smirks confidently, "Besides, you help me and you help the House isn't that good enough for you?"

Ghost pipes in from above, "Working this job will get you more connections and thus more job opportunities, she's working for Razelago who's pretty well-off and directly connected to Longacre's Archbaron. People that are at least better on your side rather than spiting you...."

(To Cimri) "Now I don't mean any offense, we all have our reasons for being of the house and I just wanted to see if you were anything worth considering as an ally outside of this taciturn part of the country, consider it a need to indulge in such a cute beauty-(hear's Oruk)

*turns head sharply to Oruk, eyes narrow*

"No.... at least not if you aren't fire or acid born, why, pray tell, are you asking now?"

Nathan-the-Anon
2018-10-02, 09:40 PM
The stench of the place is quite strong on this side of the tannery, in the gaps of the wood palisade you can see what appear to be vats of chemicals, presumably for the tanning process. A light is lit across the tannery grounds, but you can't quite see its exact source.

Cimri's head also turns in shock towards the Orc's horrifying question if left to the imagination. "Kallous, please tell me he's not referring to.... 'orc' things." Clearly indicating towards stereotypical imaginings of how Orcs behave, what with the curse that is a Half-Orc.
"Also, please, I'm only looking for a business relationship. Money is all I need in my life. Speaking of, unless you guys think of anything else my plan is basically to sneak into the main entrance, pick or break the lock of the office and knock anyone out that offers resistance then loot the place."
Looking up at the tree Ghost entered she mentions, "Also, they can't pay their taxes if they're dead. They also can't pay their taxes if they don't have a business. So no killing people, and no destroying the tannery."

(To Oruk) "If you really want to just push the gate then perhaps we could try pouring a lot of water on the hinges while you lift. There is no guarantee that it will work but a constant flow of water should stifle the sound. We could also try just climbing over the walls and pushing the door out as we leave, you know, wake everyone up right as we exit. What a thing to wake up to."
Kallous grins and turns his attention back to Cimri.
"I said nothing of a relationship, simply making an observation meant as a compliment. If you are in love with money then a steady job means a steady relationship. As for spreading a message to those who don't pay taxes, there will be a rude awakening one way or another tonight as I do not foresee anything about this venture going quietly into the night as my brother is passionate and expresses himself as he sees fit. Oh, and in regards to his earlier comment, he most likely meant it in every way including the one you thought."
Kallous' facial expression shifts to a more stern look.
"As for the task at hand. Should it be considered I can attempt to make a house call despite the late hour. Blood Vale is, after all, going around as rumor has it and seeing as how I am a doctor of sorts I could perhaps just as well convince them to hand over their taxes and shall I say, keep them distracted while those of fleet hand and foot collect the interest." he pauses for but a moment, "These are my talents that I am best at you understand, that is when I am not spreading pleasurable sensations to those in pain." He smirks briefly before his expression shifts back to neutral."Whatever you wish, I am at your disposal for now."

Nathan-the-Anon
2018-10-03, 01:58 PM
It doesn't seem as though anyone has noticed you, however as you move around the palisade you can see past the vats of chemicals just barely. A rather large dog sits in front of the lit room (A4), presumably the office. Its ears perked as it looks around, then slowly lowering its head with a yawn you can probably assume it hasn't noticed you yet.
The building you creep behind is extremely ventilated, windows on every wall about 8 feet up, though thin you could likely fit inside, or at least climb up to take a look inside.

"So you're some kinda sadistic bastard, eh? 'Pleasurable sensations to those in pain'. Sounds like you like to get off to those unable to fight back to me." She laughs, "Though, what else could I expect from the House? Someone normal?" Thinking for a moment her face lights up, "Actually, that may work. Just say something along the lines of an outbreak occurred just in town and that it likely originated from one of the day workers at the Tannery. They'll probably beg you to take their money for aid! Got any sedatives? You could just knock them out as part of the aid and we'll storm the place without issues!"

Shongesabbe

"Sadistic? I have never been described as such I am sure, but you think what you will, maybe you will see soon enough. As far as normal is concerned; I think you would be surprised by how normal I am in this city."
"I think it is likely to work, but we need to see what all is awake and guarding this place. This complex doesn't appear to be very big, if my brother could hold me up and provide line of sight over the wall I could have this whole place scoped out in ten minutes or less. We should also perhaps wait until Leopold gets back and then we can decide what to do. If we use the AEther and alcohol we could most likely convince them to all get drunk and go to sleep after paying me for the services, I could even state that the medical visit was provided for by house Thrune in exchange for their continued support should it come up in conversation. On top of that I could open and close windows from a short distance and make them all feel like they are hallucinating. Nothing adds to the disease like a fever dream and chasing ghosts that aren't there. Well *beckons to own pale skin amused* they are there just not the way they think."
"I suppose now all that is left to do is wait, we have a game plan, or at least the starting of one."
*Turns to Oruk*

Oruk nods then takes off his armor and piling his armor, backpack, shield, axe, everything except his sap, belt pouch, and flask into a pile next to a tree.

His clothing seems to melt away till he is standing nude except for thick clear straps covering his forearms.

His penis is covered in various bumps, groves, and waves of scars as if there was intricate scaring applied to it. From his skin grows what looks like a burlap sack with holes torn in it for his arms and head to go through. The sack ends a little above his knees about 2 inches past where his penis hangs thick leather bands appear at his wrists and neck. From his new collar sprouts a leash that he hands to his brother while Oruk tucks his flask and sap into his belt.

“Oruk ready now.” He says quietly while unfocusing his eyes and allowing a little drool to escape his parted lips.

He know he can’t make him self look less intimidating with how big he is but at least he can try to make himself look to stupid to do anything like a true tamed orc.

Small workstations lay about the place, a few vats of chemicals and drying racks with crates and bins along the walls. You can tell that several of the crates seem to be filled with leather and raw materials, likely worth a bit if you could move them. There doesn't appear to be anyone inside, if there is anyone they're either in the office or in the court yard but you must have missed them.

Cimri covers her face and points her dagger towards Oruk and Kallous, "Seriously! Some warning next time. I don't need to be mentally scarred for life!"
After the whole 'transformation' she looks at him in confusion. "I mean, you definitely look dumber. Do you do this a lot, or is it just natural for you when people don't see you in your armor? Less scared and more mocking of your natural aesthetics."
She tries to check for Leopold in the distance, to gauge when he'll be back or if he'd been caught.

[roll0] Perception, even though it's impossible.

"I don't see Leo, guess we'll have to wait a little more. When should we just go in to check?"

Taken aback by the sudden hostility Cimri stammers out a reply, "I-I'm sorry, I thought you had a thicker skin than that! Just pokin' fun, nothing meant by it. **** if you're that scary I may just have to sic you on my parents later....." She then mutters under her breath, "Maybe even Rhona, that goodie-two-shoes bitch."
You don't notice until too late, a small gap in the palisade perfect for a smaller person to get through and just enough room for a curious, at first, then now angry hound! It had heard you earlier creeping around the corner and came to investigate, being well trained it didn't start barking until it was sure as it has been beaten for false alarms. Though, now that it sees you it wriggles through the fence and is ready to bite! A door can be heard slamming open from presumably the office as the two night crew come rushing out to check what the barking is for.
"Who's there!?"

Leopold: 20

Shaul: 13
Cimri: 11 ( forgot about her >.> )
Kallous: 10
Pippa: 5
Oruk: 4

Watching as you cast your spell the dog barks in fear. Then bites at you, hoping to stop it.
However, he misses horribly in its own cowardice. (Couldn't edit in a roll, so rolled like I do via diceroller app, he got a natural 1 lol)

Shaul grabs his shovel and a few pots filled with gunk and stands outside the doorway waiting for Pippa, "Alright where are ya, ya damn thieves!!?"

Pippa grabs the same, and rushes to Shaul's side. "Where's Abbie? What's she barkin' at, Shaul?"

Shaul replies with, "'Dunno, but I bet'cha she'll scare him off now that they be caught!"

The gate gives way to Oruk's impressive mass and strength, Kallous shouting after him.
Shaul and Pippa drop what they were holding, Pippa passing out from sheer terror as well. (Rolled a reaction check and Shaul got like a 15 Will save vs the fear of the sight and Pippa got a natural 1 for a 3, followed by a 4 on his Fort save to keep from adverse reactions. Was kinda funny I think.)

Cimri watches in glee at the horrors just unleashed upon Longacre's Tannery, "Oooh boy, this is going to be good!"

She muttered in disbelief walking to the unconscious Jabral and searching his body for anything like a key or journal, easily finding his keys. "Here's the keys to anything like a safe or door, I don't think a simple guy like this would try to keep different keys."

Shaul and Pippa whimper constantly staring at their boss' limp body.

As you search the room you find a dog cowering under the desk, in front of a small lockbox, it barks a pitiful bark and will growl any time you get closer.

Inside the beamhouse there are a ton of tools scattered about and several crates line the walls filled with freshly prepared leather.

"Oh you'll be working with this and more." He applies the life spirit to Jabral and takes in the sensation of the pained flesh and the burning of bad blood as some of it washes away. (Healing Hex: 11 hp to Jabral)
*shivering slightly* "There, I want to fix him more, but to do so would wake him up and I don't think he will want to witness the rest. At any rate he shouldn't die now."
"Oruk may go a little overboard sometimes but he doesn't kill if it isn't necessary. He finds breathing bodies more rewarding by what he can get out of them, but he often tells me that, should something go awry, necromancers aren't that picky and they still pay."
"Now my money hungry associate feel free to use that key and collect what is owed. I am sure that these guards will not give me trouble. *he stares at them* They probably don't want a similar fate."
(To the guards) "My friends don't worry about your dear animal companion, I will return him to a better state when our business here is concluded. In the mean time do try to calm down. I know my associates are loud and scary but you really won't be harmed if you follow the rules set for you."

That should be enough to tide us up and make the House happy. Though they'll have to dip into the rest of the profits for fixing everything up here, they'll still be able to feed themselves. If they see the fear of death first then they will truly value life and the proper way to live it." "For now just put on a good show and let them think that everything is being stripped from them. Sometimes it's the only way for people to learn. If you feel pity for them, drop a hint to them before we leave."
Kallous then takes a step towards Pippa and Shaul and says to them, "I guess, with the help of your tax evading boss, you will have to take up another set of tools and learn the fine art of farming to feed yourselves. You could even even strap a plow to your dog here and give it a better use other than yapping needlessly... might save its life too. *he laughs* Can you imagine such a sight? Oh, and do keep on your boss in the future, would you, so that such things won't happen again and maybe you could pay for a meal then once in awhile."

Oruk then sits in the dirt across from Shaul and takes another drink then offers his flask to Shaul and commands “Drink”

“Look we are paid to collect the taxes and our payment is anything else we can cart out of here. That means you go without food maybe. That is Orcish way. When orc is born it is thrown from tribe as weak and if cub survives the year it is welcomed back into tribe as a true orc. That is kinda like what your going to have to go through.” Oruk points at their boots “You can eat those. Just boil them a bunch and they are a little tough but will keep you from starving. Rats are easy to catch and taste like chicken look in the trash also pink skins always throw out food that’s still good. You both will live through this and it’s not going to be as hard as you think. Your both grown adults you have a much better chance of survival then a hour old orc cub.” He points at the small crate “That has leather in it same as your boots you could sell it and maybe get a meal or you could eat it like your boots and have several.” Oruk takes back his flask and takes a drink then passes it to Pippa. “Drink.”
