A friend of mine living in a different city will be celebrating his birthday soon, and I want to send him some home-made cooking as a kind of birthday gift as a family member will be travelling to that same city soon. However I want it to be something somewhat exciting. Not just a pouch of buns or muffins. So I was wondering if people had suggestions for sweet treats that are easy to keep frozen and easy to transport.

Do you have a recipe for ginger-molasses cookies? They're pretty good when they've been frozen. From what I've seen from my sister making them, cake-pops might be pretty easy to transport. There's also Rice Krispie treats, which admittedly aren't super-exciting on their own, but a bit of chocolate drizzle can snazz them up a bit. Plus their square shape makes them easy to pack up. I also like baking brownies with crushed bits of mint candy folded in.

I'm not sure what your friend's tastes are, but hopefully at least one of those ideas is a winner.

Your mileage may differ on the "exciting" part, but I can recommend cantucci. They are quite easy to make, transport and store (at least 2 month).

Thanks for all your suggestions. I just got a message from my friend who received the treats, and they were a huge success!
