Ranger revised beastmaster 8 / rogue scout 3 going to rogue 4
5 str / 18 dex / con 16 / int 12 / wis 14 / cha 8
95 or so hp I forget

Should I max my dex or take a Feat?
I was thinking magic initiate or tough if feat, but recommend any feat you think is best

I am a close combat rapier and shield kobold that rides a wolf. Planning on all my levels being rogue after this

I have fly 30 / and mounted combatant feat

Current spells: hunters mark, cure wounds, absorb elements, pass without a trace, healing spirit
I have +1 rapier and studded leather

Rest of the team is a wizard, bard, blood hunter (kinda like a wis paladin?), pugilist (like a strength monk),

So much depends on dex. Several skills, your AC, your attack, your damage. Maxing dex is always a good choice.

That would put me at 21 defense since I'm defense fight style. Green fire blade or booming blade would increase my offense by like 3d8 though

If you hit.

If you hit.

It's the same to hit I have right now.. +9 to hit with constant advantage from pack tactics (I'm a kobold)

If your dex increased it'd be +10.

It would. So the question is which is better:
+1 to hit / damage / a.c./ dex checks and save

+3d8 damage (which goes up as I level) + utility spell + second cantrip

Other feat such as +24 hp (tough) or something

Keep in mind i don't have multi attack anyway. So using cantrip doesnt waste second attack

Maxing Dex is always great, but if you find it to be a bit boring, the Magic Initiate feat would be a great choice. Booming Blade would be great. Green Flame Blade not so much since it would rely on whatever class's spell casting mod you choose. Find Familiar is always a great Magic Initiate spell even for beastmasters, but Mage Armor might be a better pick for you for your wolf.

Thanks. Yeah mage armor is a downgrade for revised ranger beast companion a.c. which is 10 + dex + prof which is 18 for him
I was thinking shield if I went with that maybe?

I think Shield is a poor Magic Initiate choice since you can only cast it once every long rest. Just stick with Find Familiar then as it's always awesome.

We have a ring of spell storing and a wizard... otherwise I might have
