Still unclear on how dmg. calculates when you use Shadow Blade, esp. when combining it with BB or GFB. On a level 10 character, would it be:

2(+)d8 (SB) + 1d8(BB/GFB), but do you also add in the attack modifier (DEX/STR)? Would the 2(+)d8 be replacing the regular weapon damage die? (like if you made it look like a dagger, would the SB do the d8s instead of a 1d4? Just wanting to make sure I'd be calculating damage correctly.

Shadow Blade
It deals 2d8 psychic damage on a hit and has the finesse, light, and thrown properties (range 20/60).

So at base, its simply a rapier that deals 2d8 over 1d8.

Otherwise if you are attacking with dex/cha its 1d8+5 now 2d8+5 per attack.

Upcasting
3rd/4th = 3d8+5
5th-6th = 4d8+5
7th-9th = 5d8+5

Booming blade
On a hit, the target suffers the attack’s normal effects, and it becomes sheathed in booming energy until the start of your next turn.

What this means is at 20th level with a 7th level shadow blade you would do 5d8+5 on hit and 3d8 from booming blade for a total of 8d8+5. If the target moves it would then take an additional 4d8 for a total of 12d8+5

If you are still confused
A dagger deals 1d4
A rapier deals 1d8
A shadow blade deals 2d8. Its a 'new weapon type'.

I believe warlock can't upcast past level 5, so this would require a multiclass or sorcerer build.

If this can be Twinned, then you could two-weapon fight with them for two attacks at 2d8/3d8/4d8 each depending on spell level.

You cannot Extra Attack with only this as a pure warlock; the warlock Version of Extra Attack requires your pact blade. However, if your pact weapon is Light, you can use Shadow Blade as an offhand attack and get three attacks.

Note this does not work with Hex or Sign of Ill Omen, but it does work with Hexblade Curse.

RAW, it can’t be twinned (due to “self” as range). SB is available to Warlocks, Sorcerers and Wizards; either Sorcerer or Wizard could up cast it as a 7th level spell if those slots are available.
