I was reading todays Absurd notions (http://www.absurdnotions.org/) and I was wondering if there was a way to describe what he was talking about with simply +,* and ^

For example the way I would describe a^b with simply + would be to

(a+a+a...repeated a times)+(a+a+a...repeated a times)+(a+a+a...repeated a times)...repeated b times
