So ... am I the only one who noticed that the Dark One (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots1142.html) ... has two bright yellow eyes? (of different size nontheless?)

Everybody's eyes are of different shapes, it's for perspective.

EDIT: And I am 98.45672397% sure somebody has already proposed that the Dark One and Monster-san are connected. The problem with that is that Redcloak knows exactly what the Monster in the Dark is and does not treat him with anything resembling religious reverence.

Fun fact: Peelee's Law of Numbers states that generally, the longer a number is, the less the digits after the third one matter.
Also known as the "Suck it, π" law.

Fyraltari's Law of Arbitrary Percentages, happens to state that any and all number associated to an intagible, immeasurable property is completely devoid of actual meaning and should be arbitrarily chosen.

I'd rather eat that π rather than sucking it.

Or maybe...their heads are backwards this whole time!

Ah, a battle of laws, is it? I demand satisfaction! We shall duel with legislators at dawn.

Battle in the company of legislators as witnesses or using legislators as projectiles?

I was thinking using them as handheld weapons, but projectiles works just as well.

Huh, I never noticed that. I assume Thog's eyes are inverted because Roy's are (evil opposites theme), but why are Roy's? Main character? Tough guy?

It wasn't always the case. If you look at the earliest strips Roy and Thog's eyes are usually normal. Maybe it was changed to be consistent with Eugene (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0015.html) who was always depicted like that, since it later became a staple of male Greenhilts. (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0497.html) Then I assume Roy's post-198 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0198.html) design was used as a basis for Thog's art upgrade so he gained the inverted eyes as well. Then Thog may have been used as a basis for other orcish characters, because some of the male (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0552.html) island orcs have them, too. (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0557.html)

It's always bugged me that Julia doesn't have the same eyes, despite what Durkon says. (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0353.html)

Eugene has the eyes in the regular way as of his latest apparition (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots1046.html).

I reject any theory that has Durkon behaving like Tarquin.

Oh wow Roy's eyes actually do change with the belt on.

You're right. Also went to check the 2016 calendar and now Chief Grukgruk likewise has the regular eyes in the current art style. Thog still has them in all of his calendar appearances as well as his most recent appearance in GDGU's preface. So I guess the eyes were always a wonky mistake that only Roy and Thog get to keep. (Have we seen Horace or Eric since #601?)

You are not being literal enough. Roy's eyes are normal when genderbent.

Could somebody please explain to me how Roy's eyes are somehow "inverted"? I can't tell the difference between his and everyone else's.

It looks like... when most characters are facing the right side of the panel, the order of eyes is the same as the  -- the long skinny eye is on the left (their right eye). When they face the left side of the panel, this reverses so that the skinny eye is now their left eye.

Roy and Thog are inverted to this. When they face the right side of the panel, the long skinny eye is their left eye, and when they face left the skinny eye is their right eye.

Thank you! I was using the position of their eyes itself as a guide to which side they were "facing," which made it tough to tell.

I've always been pretty sure that what happened re: Roy's eyes (and later Thog, etc.) is that The Giant flipped an old drawing to save as a template and forgot to fix the eyes, then wound up accidentally using it enough times that he just made it a part of Roy's character design (which then made it to others based on Roy's body type, like Thog). In universe, I like to think it means that Roy is a bit cross-eyed or has a lazy eye. etc.
