Animated objects created using the spell called by the same name are considered creatures. That means spells like polymorph could work on them. But polymorph can only turn a creature into a beast with the same CR/Level or lower. So what is the CR of an animated object?

I would still treat them as an object. They were animated, not awakened. And them not having a CR in the rules strengthens this view I think.

Meaning you'd need true polymorph to polymorph even an animated object.

Edit: I'm not claiming this is RAW as I'm not sure. Just giving my opinion :P

"Choose up to ten non magical objects within range that are not being worn or carried. Medium targets count as two objects Large targets count as four objects Huge targets count as eight objects. You can't animate any object larger than Huge"

An animated table is a cr 2, and large, and it's stats are similar to a large object,

So I'd say
Tiny CR 1
Small CR 1
Medium CR 1
Large CR 2
Huge CR 3
