Slurks know Boggard. So what?

We got a tame slurk we want to train. It knows Boggard but can't speak. What's the significance of that fact? Do we have to learn Boggard to train it?

I think the answer is, we teach it common -- reassign a skill point to Linguistics-- then we can ask it to do anything and the DM controls its personality

It means that it understands Boggard, but can't speak it.

As for training it, slurks have Int 3, which means you can't train them with Handle Animal check. You could use Diplomacy checks to improve its attitude, but you need the creature to understand you - which means you need to speak Boggard (not a problem, just cast Tongues on whoever will make the check).

By the way humans can not understand common but can talk it and write it and read it.
Here the sluks can read write and understand boggard but not talk it.
And the rules of pathfinder are dumb: they never said humans could understand common believing that talking implied understanding which is not true so humans can use common to communicate only if they know how to read and write(basically if they have any class that is not barbarian) and then only by writing and reading because when they talk the other humans can not understand.

Diplomacy checks would not work here since pathinder rules for diplomacy gives a duration of 1d4 hours.

For doing diplomacy the most reliable ways are hypnosis spam after capturing the target and giving it a bunch of negative levels and the other way is to be awesome enough for everyone to start fanatic when they meet you(basically stack starting attitude modifiers and get like 3 or four of them. two is already good because it avoids most fights. there is some prcs which gives as capstone an attitude modifier and there is probably other ways to get them)
