Being made to stop in a hostile square

Some creatures, such as fire elementals, can enter the square of a hostile creature and stop there. Does it follow then that they can be forced into a square containing another creature by some means such as the shove action?

As long as they are not somehow immune to the forced movement, yes. That said, at least in the case of fire elementals I'd rule that they are immune to shove given their other immunities, though they could be forced via other forms of forced movement.
