Hi everyone! Decided to make a thread to ask for thoughts and opinions on what creative salient divine abilities would you give to a god of knowledge? Please do not hold back. Any and all ideas would be considered useful, because my table are currently playing a god game in question. An the dm gave us the ability to create our own salient abilities, so long as we run by him for confirmation.

We are all now currently divine rank 10.

What role are you expecting these SDAs to play at the table? Are you fighting this god? Being this god? Being directly aided by this god? Just putting the god in the background?

If you’re just worldbuilding (nothing against that, of course!), honestly, I wouldn’t bother nailing down which specific powers the deity has. The god of knowledge can be expected to have deific abilities that relate to their portfolio, but if the actual god and their SDAs aren’t showing up on-camera, I personally feel like it lessens the feel of gods as gods to specify in excruciating detail what tricks this god can do but that this other god can’t. Gods at this level of interaction should either be plot hooks or roleplaying guideposts, not characters with sheets.

If this deity and their SDAs are, in fact, being portrayed on camera (which, upon rereading, seems to be the case—I’ll hide my earlier comments in a spoiler), I guess we need more info about what kinds of stuff you find both relevant and acceptable at the table. If we’re literally just making up god powers, we need to know exactly how crazy it’s fun and good for you to get. What sorts of problems are you solving? Can you give examples of some other homebrew SDAs that you’re trying to match the power/utility of?

Arcane Mastery (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/divine/divineAbilitiesFeats.htm#arcaneMastery), Clearsight (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/divine/divineAbilitiesFeats.htm#clearsight), Divine Skill Focus (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/divine/divineAbilitiesFeats.htm#divineSkillFocus), Extra Sense Enhancement (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/divine/divineAbilitiesFeats.htm#extraSenseEnhancement), Know Secrets (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/divine/divineAbilitiesFeats.htm#knowSecrets), Power of Truth (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/divine/divineAbilitiesFeats.htm#powerOfTruth), See Magic (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/divine/divineAbilitiesFeats.htm#seeMagic), Speak with Creatures (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/divine/divineAbilitiesFeats.htm#speakWithCreatures), True Knowledge (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/divine/divineAbilitiesFeats.htm#trueKnowledge)
So a deity of knowledge can (potentially): see everything as it is even if far away, know most things about everyone it meets and everywhere it goes, communicate with anyone, and have knowledge skills into the stratosphere.

Can you tell us a bit about your character? Domains? Portfolio? Personality? Alignment? Viewpoint on his or her godhood?

The character in question is the scion of a human and a titan; who crash landed along with other characters of notes and different backgrounds on the planet Solaris (dm's world). Where our goals are to attain divine rank so that we can be gods of this world; how we went about doing that fell into our laps. His portfolio is knowledge because as he sat around a campfire with his eventual friends who he fought and bled beside at divine rank 0, naked, with no equipment to call his own. He strongly believed that having information at the palm of his hands was worth more than any artifact sword or earthly trinket, because knowledge carries with it stories, tidbits of information that few people don't even realize the value of and that it would be useful to arm the party with key info should the situation call for it. Information which has saved our skins time after time after time again.

Domains currently are Knowledge, Creation, Time and Oracle(which he got from taking full levels of divine oracle)

Alignment has been Lawful Evil; though heavily leaning towards the lawful side rather than the evil. As he believes strongly in order, conduct and structure. Anyone has the chance to make it to the top if they work hard enough.

Personality: I've done my best to take examples of Hades from the Olympian pantheon as a god who believes in doing his job, but also to preserve, protect and hoard knowledge as it is a invaluable resource. Where in some situations it can be a scalpel and in others, a vicious sword only to be wielded when the situation calls for it. He loves his friends very dearly and considers his worshipers his own children and is not afraid to walk among them to see how they are doing, sometimes as he is and other times in disguise.

Viewpoints on his godhood. He believes that it is a privilege that other gods squander and use as an excuse to gallivant and do as they please, all the expense and suffering of the mortals. Which he hates to no end, but understand that different dieties rule their subjects much differently than he does. An he goes to great lengths to not only fight on behalf of his people (which he had to do one time when a party member forgot to invite the god of the moon; an npc who helped us out pretty well and was quite friendly to us. He not only took offense to that but also sent his worshipers to scour across the land, killing, pillaging and the like. Which they did with great impunity; only places protected and ruled by a lesser diety were protected from such an attack; which is not very many. So his army came to Kayne's domain, but the hoard couldn't get through because he made the entire walls out of adamantine so they couldn't brute force their way in; and they couldn't get past the barrier he'd setup in the event of such an attack.

Kayne came and sorted that out. Killed every last were creature there was at the gate, called out the god of the moon for being a coward and fought him to a standstill. He had frenzy berserker levels and an artifact that allowed his rage to be infinite so his deathless frenzy kept him alive and I had a few spells permanencied on me that kept me well alive as well and allowed me to overpower him. Kayne would've destroyed him with an arcane channeling disintegrate, but the dm due to plot reasons allowed his owner who is a vampire psionic who is the god of the undead come to collect the god of the moon and reward me for his guard dog's transgressions. His worshipers saw that for themselves and spread the word out of what happened and that got me a heap of followers. Oh, funny fact, he personally skinned every were himself and turned them into coats which he gave out to all of his worshipers and friends. An said god of the moon is the only were in existence, who is now bound and chained as punishment for his actions)

That event and a few others help solidify his godhood. But now there is a new threat on the horizon, men in ships and mechs and scientific equipment who worship some god emperor decide to come on said planet to try conqueror. Like he did to so many other planets and civilizations. Because he attacked one of his sister adamantine cities, so again I came and miracled my worshipers back to the main city; and teleported the entire city away in front of my eyes. Which angered Kayne to no end; but he was grateful he was able to get his people out of a terrible situation. So now up to him and his friends and the other gods of this world who are willing ti listen to reason to help; or be destroyed to sort that out. (Because of an ability I made that so long as there is any information that is recorded; I instantly know and am aware of it. He made me aware of who /what I am dealing with and that there are armed and dangerous. Also showed me a funky rule in dmg about how you can introduce technology into the world and that said weapons are considered artifacts, basically these soldiers are more than capable of fighting us.)

Hope this gives more insight and if I didn't say it before; thanks for helping out. I really appreciate it. Any and all constructive and useful ideas will be heavily considered.
