Tavern Brawl Battlemaster Loxodon

Hi guys. I came up with this idea. Would like to hear from you.

Loxodon can Grapple with his trunk, which I think it's great.

The build idea is:

Fighter lv 1:

15 10 14 10 13 10 (point buy)

15 10 16 10 14 10 (after modifier)

Heavy Armor, Shield and Defense Fightin Style -> AC 19

Lv 3 -> Battlemaster
Trip, Riposte, Menacing

Lv 4 -> Tavern Brawl +1 Str

You can hit + trip on your action and grapple with your trunk on a Bonus Action. You deal damage and restrain a foe with good action economy, holding a shield so your AC isn't compromised. You can even hold a weapon for further attacks.

That combo sounds pretty decent, however when doing a grapple build you need a way to make sure your checks succeed. This accomplished either by getting Expertise, which is pretty difficult with this character, or by having advantage. I would recommend putting 1 level into Barbarian for Rage, which gives you advantage on str ability checks while active.

Wouldn't a Simic Hybrid be better at this in every way after level 5?

I know it's important to have Expertise or Advantage, this was just a rough of the minimum viable to work. Not hard to throw rogue in though, if you build it with dex. Barbarian is another possibility. Maybe both.

Go fighter 6, rogue 1, barbarian 1. Something like that.

Yes, it has two whole extra limbs that can attack for 1d6 and give a grapple minor action at level 5. No brawler feat needed. He can grapple TWO guys and still sword and board. Or he can grapple FOUR guys naked.

That's really good indeed. I was excited with one extra limb, 2 is insane.
