Plane-related stuff interests me greatly and I'm curious if anyone has any experience adventuring in those particular planes. As interesting as the quasi-elemental ones are I'm just wondering if they actually get used.

Whether you're on the DM or the player side, please share your stories. :)

Plane-related stuff interests you greatly, you say? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?527699-afroakuma-s-Planar-And-Other-Oddities-Questions-Thread-VII)

The quasiplanes are definitely harder to use than the elemental planes (which, in fairness, still are not easy) but it's perfectly feasible to do interesting things with them. I always like to play around in the border areas, as I find they have the most character. The few native creatures described for the quasiplanes are delightfully alien and provide a fun template for what kind of other weirdness one might find there.

My thread graced by the great Afroakuma. :D
Yup I am a fan of that thread. I've asked a couple questions before and I follow it regularly. But yep you're right, most of those planes would be weird and difficult to travel and there isn't a whole lot mentioned for each one. Why I was curious to see if they got much use in peoples games. Had an idea to harvest ice from the Plane of Ice once and sell it as a luxury item, lol.

Also the Pathfinder Plane of Obsidian looks like a badass place to build a wizard lair in.

I"ve used the quasi-elemental monsters before, and they are fun. Be careful of some of the odd abilities. For example, the mineral para elemental's merge ability.

Start small. Have a planar 'pocket' the party goes through a portal to. make it a rough translation of an island of sorts. That way you don't need to deal with all the strangeness at once. Maybe lead the adventure in, but have a barrier they can't get past without something from back on the home plane. It makes them see it, and leave, and then return. It lets you figure it out slowly and in a later game session deal with a bigger adventure. Depending on how your world is setup, they may or may not have sages available to get information and actually prepare for it before going in the second time That lets you keep them confused at first, but adjust as they explore more.
