Hi,

Spell Compendium version of Recitation says:

The spell affects all allies within the spell’s area at the moment you cast it. Your allies gain a +2 luck bonus to AC, on attack rolls, and on saving throws, or a +3 luck bonus if they worship the same deity as you.

Compared to the Complete Divine version which included this paragraph:

By reciting a sacred passage or declaration, you invoke your deity’s blessing upon yourself and your allies while causing confusion and weakness among your enemies.

The omission of the specific call out emphasised above in the SC version makes me think the cleric doesn't benefit from the spell, just his/her allies. Is that correct?

If the cleric is affected do they then get the +3 bonus instead of +2?

Thanks
GP

Player's Handbook 3.5, p304:
Ally: A creature friendly to you. In most cases, references to "allies" include yourself.

SpC overrides CD, and the PHB text means nothing changes.
