Everyone knows that when trolls pop into internet forums it will often degenerate into flame wars.

I have finally figured out the cause. It is a direct result of Dungeons and Dragons. You see, the only ways to kill a troll in D&D is to use fire and acid. So when a troll shows up on the internet, the ensuing flame war is an attempt to kill the troll with fire.

I suppose an acid war could also result, but those who would use acid seem too stoned to care.

Edit: I might be a little bored.

Besides which, a stoned troll isn't much of a threat anymore. Being petrified and all.

It seems the flames are necessary, otherwise the trolls recover quickly.

So what about War Trolls? They're not vulnerable to fire, aren't they?

War trolls can only be harmed by peace, the opposite of war. Throw hippies at them.
