Hello all.

So, this is simultaneously a PEACH and a "What about..." situation, as I bring a concept from the old days(3rd edition) into 5e, with an example I think is done pretty well.

Alternate Class Features. It's exactly what it sounds like, and I think it applies just as well now as it did in 3e. People will say "Subclasses Exist for a reason!" and they're completely right, but subclasses don't work with everything. Sometimes things are just different enough(For instance, Shifters and Druids), or sometimes the core class interferes with the theme or potential mechanics of the concept(Like a Gritty Wrestler-type and Monks).

So, here it is. Very basic concept, nothing more to say, really. I made an example, though, of the Warden (https://homebrewery.naturalcrit.com/share/SkPep8jyV). It's made from the Revised Ranger (https://media.wizards.com/2016/dnd/downloads/UA_RevisedRanger.pdf) from the UA a while back.

I made the Warden because any of the Conclaves work well for it(They're just as likely to be skilled fighters as to have a bestial companion), as does the spell list(Mostly), and it's a very close concept(Nature-Caster/Skill-based-Martial)... But the Ranger has a lot of stealth elements that conflict with the Warden's bold, protective elements, and some of the features were too powerful or crucial to put in a subclass, even if one reconciled the thematic issues.

So... I guess this is the PEACH part.

Feedback is always appreciated.
