The schools of magic are
1. Evocation
2. Transmutation
3. Necromancy
4. Divination
5. Illusion
6. Abjuration
7. Conjuration
8. Enchantmant

So the question is what ability score would each school belongs to.

Example is: Conjuration I see as Wisdom and Enchantmant as Charisma.

Conjuration would depend on what you're trying to summon. If inanimate objects, it could be INT or WIS. But if you're summoning something sentient, 100% Charisma. You're asserting your will over it.

Each school belongs to Intelligence, because the separation of magic in schools is a Wizard thing.

There is nothing particularly wise about Conjuration, nor charismatic about Enchantment. There is only an intellectual classification of what the magic does.

ADnD used to have stat minima for specialist wizards, maybe you can use that as a starting point?

AFB so I can't look them up for you at the moment.

Every spell of every class is assigned to a school. Fighters and rogues also use schools for their spell mechanics.

I happen to be at home. :smallsmile:

Abjurer, Diviner, and Necromancer: Wisdom
Conjurer and Invoker: Constitution
Enchanter: Charisma
Illusionist and Transmuter: Dex

the only required stat I read for Wizard is INT. I'm not seeing any other requirements. Is this a home brew thing we are talking about?

As Milllstone85 said, the magic Fighter and Rogue subclasses are using wizard magic.

As for the first point: yes, every spell has a school, but it's a classification that only matter for wizardry (or maybe for Bards too, but the PHB mentions they're using various magical research for their mumbo-jumbo).

Also I don't see why you'd link spells to things they are shortcuts of. Mind-controlling people into thinking you're their friend isn't charisma, it's dodging the need to be charismatic.

Order domain has special interaction with enchantment spells.

Not that I disagree with your first post.

So, if the schools were to build on abilities instead of dodging them, I would say:

Constitution
* Evocation
* Necromancy

You become a channel for an elemental or energy plane. That takes a toll.

Intelligence
* Transmutation

This requires the most understanding of your material and intended product.

Wisdom
* Divination

It is not enough to give yourself new senses. You must keep them alert too.

Charisma
* Enchantment
* Illusion

Who is manipulative and deceitful? Not me.

????????
* Abjuration
* Conjuration

Hmm... Er... I got nothing.

I agree with this plus you went into extra detail with the subschools even! I would consider putting abjuration in constitution, and maybe taking the illusion subschools in charisma and putting them in dex, but those are the only alterations I would make.

Abjuration I'll say Intelligence
Conjuration I'll say Wisdom cause you must have the will power to deal with conjured things.

Wisdom in 5e doesn't have too much to do with willpower, except maybe with its saving throws.

Mostly, Wisdom has to do with your senses and being hyperaware. Saving throws are related to controlling your emotions.
Charisma has to do with persuasion and convincing others to obey. Saving throws are related to resisting change forced upon you.

Charisma seems to be a better fit, especially since Charisma saving throws are used to defend against planar assaults upon you, which is exactly what the Conjuration Wizard does (inflicts a planar assault upon a creature, a "reverse banishment").

Abjuration I would probably see as Intelligence or Constitution. But making the Wizard require Intelligence and Intelligence just seems...odd.
