Hi there,

Recruitment for PBP games can be a lot like rolling the dice. rpg.net has a thread called the blacklist (https://forum.rpg.net/index.php?threads/the-blacklist.709461/) for its PBP forum, with the intention of deterring the kind of player who signs up for games that they have no intention of following through on. Such lists exist here in the playground, though because it's informal it's communicated entirely through word of mouth and personal grudges, which makes it feel kind of gossipy. Do you think a system like rpg.net's would be a better idea?

Sheriff: This has come up here before, albeit a long time ago. In short, no. A quick search turns up this prior comment from the Homebrew context. The thread it's from discussed some of the problems with users evaluating and commenting negatively on b each other. It's just contrary to the ethos here.

Sheriff: The recent experience with the homebrew monster rating thread demonstrates the problems with a community whitelist.

People are welcome to have a personal whitelist of things they use or allow. People are welcome to comment on others' homebrew and suss out whether it can be used or improved. But a community whitelist poses far too many problems with the criteria used, desireable attributes, crunch vs. fluff, writing standards, formatting standards, editing others works, administration, disagreements, posters exercising power over the process or one another, favoritism, etc.

I'd recommend against it.

As noted, community/public blacklists and whitelists of players has long been prohibited, though people are welcome to keep private lists for their own use.
