I doubt Haley dies permanently. She is dear to Elan and the story will have a happy ending for Elan.

However, the oracle said "Yes -- for you, at least.", implying that the story will end not-too-well for some other party members.

V should be fine, at least untill he reaches the "complete and total ultimate arcane power", since Oracle implied that V will actually get there.
