Some spells e.g. Power Word Pain and Mental Prison contain wording "immune to being charmed"
Paladin's Aura of Devotion creates an effect under which creatures cannot be charmed while paladin is conscious. Is it the same thing? Is lvl 7 Devotion paladin immune to all those nasty effects?

In my opinion--yes. Cannot be charmed implies immune to being charmed. Any charm effect (or anything that emulates a charm effect/requires a charm effect) fails without rolling a save.
