Reading through the WOTC saved Armor thread (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?445923-Saving-from-WOTC-Forum-The-3-5-Armor-and-Shield-thread) I saw this:

"Whirlwind (Unknown) :- *** +90,000 Nice, but kinda expensive for the ability to fly. The whirlwind ability doesn't add that much."

Any idea on the source? I am imagining a really cool cinematic effect like Red Tornado from the comics

Found it - Eberron Campaign setting, pg 266 (fixed typo)

"A large air elemental is bound into this armor, which takes on an almost translucent appearance. When the wearer of this armor speaks a command word, the armor allows him to fly at a speed of 60 feet (good maneuverability). Once per day, the wearer can transform himself (and all his gear) into a whirlwind exactly as though he were a Large air elemental, remaining in that form for up to 4 rounds."

90,000gp

Pretty pricey, although 60 fly with good maneuverability is pretty nice.

I'm not finding this is the ECS? Maybe I'm looking in the wrong area. Found it, page 266.

It might be a bit more value for money if it also granted Whirlwind Attack as a feat.

Isn't speaking a command word a standard action? That's pretty inefficient if you have to "turn it on" every time.

I guess there's technically no duration on the flight, so therefore you can just turn on the flight function once and have it last forever. Which is really kind of just rubbing two mild dysfunctions against each other, but in this case they do seem to more or less cancel out, so I guess we'll call that the solution that does the least harm?
