I'm trying to compile every thing that makes you stronger the more you're beaten up.

I'm NOT looking for things that give you an advantage for the round like the Crusader's Furious Counterstrike or Karmic Strike, I want to the character to have a lasting advantage.

So far all I've got is the Barbarian's Berserker Strength ACF from PHBII

Anything else? It can be 3.5 or Pathfinder

Thanks!

Risen Martyr is a prestige class whose prerequisite pretty much requires you to have been definitively beaten. Book of Exalted Deeds, 3.5.

Masochism spell from Book or Vile Darkness does this.
It can be persisted and is in the cleric spell list. Couple this with persisted Delay death and persisted Lesser vigor and go to town.

From MMV there are the 5 ushemoi. Each of them have their own bonus, 4/5 of them get their bonus from being damaged, regardless of the source of the damage. Their bonus stacks up to five times and lasts for a minute. The bonuses are quite nice, doing things like +10 ac, +10 damage, +50 to speed, etc. They have level adjustments listed, although they are all fairly high

Badger, Wolverine, Dire Badger, and Dire Wolverine are all get Rage
... that takes damage in combat flies into a berserk rage on its next turn, clawing and biting madly until either it or its opponent is dead. It gains +4 Strength, +4 Constitution, and -2 AC. The creature cannot end its rage voluntarily.Available as polymorph, Wild Shape, lycanthropy, or - for the "non-Dires" - Anthropomorphic Animal

Involuntary Rage (Savage Species) and Wolverine's Rage (Complete Divine) feats, and Weretouched Master PrC, wolverine heritage (Eberron Campaign Setting) 3rd-level CF

Mantle of Pure Spite spell (Heroes of Horror)

Dunno how well it fits there, but Frenzied Berserkers may activate their Frenzy on damage taken, and Afflicted Lycanthropes (who're failed their Control Shape check) - transform into Animal form

Martyred Champion of Ilmater gives you a non-evil masochism like effect at level 5.

Lessee, first party Pathfinder:

Pain Taster PrC (https://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/prestige-classes/other-paizo/n-r/pain-taster/) get a class feature called Masochism that lets them flagellate themselves in combat to gain bonuses, among other things.

The Orc/Half-Orc racial Feats that key off Die Hard, starting with Deathless Initiate (https://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/deathless-initiate-combat/) give you bonuses below 0 HP, and eventually remove all the drawbacks to being below 0 HP. My Half-Orc Zealot will probably take them at some point, since he redirects most damage dealt to his allies to himself, and doesn't die until -27 Con. Deathless Master (don't lose HP for acting) is good, but Zealot is niche (it makes enemies roll all critical confirmations twice and take the lowest result).

...I suppose it must be mentioned that Kineticists (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/alternative-rule-systems/occult-adventures/occult-classes/kineticist/) gain power by punching themselves in the face repeatedly.

The Holy Vindicator (https://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/prestige-classes/apg/holy-vindicator/) PrC gains Stigmata, which deals continuous bleed damage to you but gives bonuses. They're actually pretty good. I could see myself playing a Paladin/Vindicator one day.

The similarly flavored Martyr (https://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/paladin/archetypes/paizo-paladin-archetypes/martyr-paladin-archetype/) archetype for Paladin, on the other hand, is pretty garbage.

These Feats, themed for Hell (https://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/prestige-classes/other-paizo/e-h/hellknight/)knights (https://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/prestige-classes/other-paizo/e-h/hellknight-signifer/) (though only one requires you to actually be one), give bonuses for dealing damage to yourself. One (Dislocate (https://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/general-feats/dislocate) for Escape Artist) and one (Obsession (https://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/general-feats/hellknight-obsession) to class abilities).

There are a few abilities that have additional effects if you're below half HP for certain classes or spells I think, but I can't find them with a quick search. These are just the top of my head options.

Edit: Oh! Right! Sadomasochism is a spell. (https://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/s/sadomasochism/) In a hypothetical gestalt game I've wanted to make an Inquisitor//Some other Class/Pain Taster that used this.

Edit 2: I forgot Story Feats existed for a minute, but I did recall History of Scars (https://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/achievement-feats/history-of-scars-achievement/); on looking at it though, the bonus is pretty small.

Saiyan Racial Class? :smalltongue:

I would think Gate-ing in a Saiyan then using the Fusion power or similar would be more fitting.

There is a feat in dragonlance: cornered rat or something like that, that gives you a small bonus to hit and AC when you are reduced below a certain amount of HP, 25% I think maybe 50%.

Its in ravenloft and its called Back to the wall.

I mean... isn't the first part technically the basis of Dragon Ball Super?

I only caught glimpses of it here and there so I'm not sure how close I am, but, regardless, nice.

If Pathfinder is OK, the the spell Blood Rage (two words, otherwise you'll get the bloodrager class)

Every 5 points of damage taken yields a +2 STR (max 10) and a -1 AC (max -5, but w/e it means more damage and more STR)

Outcast Champion has two of these - sort of. One is definitely this - their Desperate Fury kicks in when they're below half HP. Give +2 morale to Str, Con and Dex. Lasts for 3 rounds + 1 per point of Con bonus. At 5th level you can share the ability with allies within 30 ft. (It can also activate if you're at full HP and get fatigued or exhausted)

The other ability is Avenging Strike. It lets you add +Cha to attack and 1d6/class level to damage against an enemy that has dealt damage to an ally of yours in the last hour. You're your own ally, right? The ability doesn't specifically exclude you, so I think you can definitely argue that it should apply to you. You can also keep using it as long as you have more uses per day (1 use per point of Cha bonus) - it never says the opponent has to wound you/an ally again, or that you can only use it once per enemy.

Similarly, many of the Spelltouched feats (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/buildingCharacters/spelltouchedFeats.htm) in UA have a prerequisite of "sucks to be you". In fact ...

If the spell allows a save, you must have failed a saving throw against it at least once.

Which means to take Life Leech you have to die.

EDIT: Ghostwalker prestige class in Sword&Fist. Bonuses during later encounters against people who beat you up before.

If you're looking for inspiration/ideas, I recommend the movie Kung Fu Hustle.

One of the ways an afflicted lycanthrope transforms is by crossing the initial threshold 75% HP, and then failing his Control Shape check. This check to transform is repeated at 50% HP, 25% HP, and 0% HP thresholds.
