I have a question about the battle sorcerer variant class. Is the battle sorcerer proficient with all simple weapons in addition to a single light/one-handed martial weapon of the character's choice?

While the text isn't so clear, it wouldn't make any sense for the Battle Sorcerer to be the single base class in 3.5 with no access to simple weapon proficiency. Yes, if Sorcerers and Wizards have simple weapon proficiency, so does the Battle Sorcerer.

Thank you for your response. But FYI, wizards are only proficient with clubs, daggers, light and heavy crossbows, and quarterstaves.

An monks aren’t even proficient in unarmed strikes.
