For those of you still using paper sheets for characters, what do you use? The basic WoTC one? If so, which of the variety? If not, what sheet do you use?

I am curious what people use around here. If you comment, please provide a link to the sheet if its not the basic WoTC one.

I generally use the dyslexic character sheets (dyslexic character sheets (https://www.dyslexic-charactersheets.com/)), as they’re laid out well. Your combat stuff is on one page, your spells are on another, and it gives you prewritten stuff for specific classes (Dread Necromancer for example has all its spells prewritten), and it’s designed with
multiclassing in mind.

It is more pages, but so much better organised.

Rest of my group seem to prefer the standard Wotc sheets which I find to be confusing and too cramped to fit everything
a character has going on

I second this. I actually started with this character sheet, and the first time I saw the WotC one, I became violently ill.

For NPCs I sometimes use a template word document I created that condenses things similarly to a stat block, but easier to read.

I like dyslexic's sheets, but I am also quite fond of this one by Mad Irishman (http://www.mad-irishman.net/pubs/MI_DnD3eCharSheet23.pdf). Don't be alarmed by the jumbled appearance. It has a lot of layers that you need to turn on or off in order to get the content customized for your character. It's great once you get the hang of it.

How can I use it? I don't have Acrobat and when I try to print it it's horribly distorted and the boxes overlap in strange ways.

Does Mad Irishman have a pathfinder sheet?

The layers are perfectly accessible in Acrobat Reader. You may have to open the appropriate side panel to see them. Try clicking on Show/Hide > Navigation Panes > Layers under the View menu?

I have no clue.

No, I DON'T have Acrobat Reader.

I run Linux.

I run Linux.

So you need WINE (Windows is not Emulated) instead of whining.

I'd rather not run a proprietary program, though.

Are there any ways to properly view it without Acrobat Reader?

P.S. It's Wine Is Not an Emulator.

I've used those. I've also tried printing via LibreOffice. Neither work.

Proprietary Format Issues.

Sometimes, the Proprietary Format is not documented correctly, so there are distortion when using other programs.

I used Open Office and .docx files, and they never open or print correctly when open with MS Word.

This is a known problem with Proprietary File Format. They want to lock you in on their software.

PDF pretends to be a Portable Document Format, but it really is not portable when you cannot open then using third party software and print correctly.
