I'm a big fan of the PHB PSAs comedy series and one episode I've always remembered fondly is D&debate 5 Illusionist vs Warlock. They get into a pissing contest and the Warlock brags about burning down a city and challenges the Illusionist if he can "Illuse a city" the Illusionist responds that he can indeed illuse a city, that he can in fact illuse a thousand cities. By the end the Warlock is on the verge of tears questioning the reality of the Illusionist, room he's in, and even himself.

Is this kind of Illusing possible in Pathfinder? Is it possible at relatively low levels?

All books allowed, third party material on d2pfsrd can be requested, assume the DM is open to liberal rules interpretations and mild reflavoring but we are not playing magical tea time and calling it Pathfinder.

It's possible in Pathfinder by using Spheres of Power with a CL 10 caster.

By using the Midnight (http://spheresofpower.wikidot.com/advanced-talents#toc49) talent in conjunction with Spellcrafting (http://spheresofpower.wikidot.com/spellcrafting) and Widen Spell (https://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/metamagic-feats/widen-spell-metamagic/), one can use an Illusion Sphere base talent (with whatever other talents the caster wishes) to create an illusion with a radius of 4 miles (area ~50.24 sq mi). Realistically, one would need to use Complex Illusion (http://spheresofpower.wikidot.com/illusion#toc27) for creating multiple buildings and city features and Illusionary Odor/Sound/Touch (http://spheresofpower.wikidot.com/illusion#toc55), as well as Permanent Image (http://spheresofpower.wikidot.com/advanced-talents#toc122) to not have it disappear within a few minutes.

I've not done the full suite of calculations yet, but it's probably not practical to create more than one or two illusory cities per day. So it is possible to create a thousand illusionary cities, but it'll take a while.

Mirage arcana can cover a small city in an illusion. Several castings could cover a larger one. Or create one where there isn't any.

@Morcleon Sounds great, I'll have to look into spheres of power.

Are you correcting my spelling or did you also watch that video and hear them differently? It definitely sounded like the unword "Illuse" which I take to be a verb meaning to create or act upon with Illusion magic as the warlock was bragging about having used magic to destroy a city while being dismissive of the power of Illusion.

Well, there is the Solipsism spell from SpC. (Illusion, naturally). Sounds like the Warlock was hit by it.

I didn't watch any video, just pointing out an actual word that meant the thing you were trying to say.
