My DM had the fantastic idea of allowing us to play an "All Evil" party, as in, we all are required to play with an Evil Alignment, except for our Necromancer, he's Chaotic Neutral. The main plot line is, we are hired by our Empress, to assist in taking down the opposing kingdom, except for the fact that the kingdom we are taking down, are classified as the "Good Guys". Anyways, we got a few sessions in, and our DM decided to put us on hold for a bit (He just became a father for the first time), we started up a different campaign with one of the other DMs, I'm the only one in the group that isn't on the DM cycle. ANYWAYS, I have been allowed to switch my character (we're playing at lvl 5), from Jorje, the Hellbred Tank (a little over 100 Hp, and almost 30 AC) to what I would prefer to be a serial killer.

I would just be basic, and choose a to make an all out Rogue, but i'd like to do something that's more suited for a serial killer, I plan on starting out with something like ninja, or rogue, and then Prestige classing into something better at level 6. I feel like there has already been a thread on this subject, but I can't find it. I plan on playing him a chaotic neutral as well, where he is a serial killer, but he never passes up the opportunity to get paid to indulge in his hobby. The part currently consists of Frenchie, our Skeleton Necromancer/Side-Tank/Healer, Deimos, our certified ******* Warlock/Ranged specialist, and Demki, out spacey swashbuckler/Melee Dps. As I said before, I was playing Jorje, the resident wall of flesh and AC, intimidation specialist (26-ish Intimidate at lvl 5, without taking skill focus intimidate). To be honest, if you want to convince me that the team needs Jorge to stay, then please tell me why, I'm just not having fun with him anymore, because all I do is intimidate, stand in front of the enemy, as they try fruitlessly to hit me, and swing my sword at them. I'd prefer to have more fun playing, instead of sitting off to the side of the table, occasionally rolling to hit.

I'd prefer if anyone knows the best build for making a serial killer, as long as it's not just all levels in rogue because,"They do it best". I want to have fun, not sit down and wait for my next sneak-attack.

If you're willing to backport from Pathfinder, you can use the Vigilante base class (https://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/vigilante/) with the Serial Killer archetype (https://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/vigilante/archetypes/vigilante-archetypes-paizo-inc/serial-killer-vigilante-archetype). It is somewhat based on the Assassin prestige class though, so if you don't like rogues it might not be such a good fit.

For theme, I would assume Ranger with favoured enemy "human" (if the majority of good guys you are after are human) would work. You could go for assassin too, as a prestige class. It is not the most powerful choice, of course.

That said, if you are a serial killer, I would assume Evil rather than CN as an alignment, but talk with your DM about that. If they allow CN then you are golden.

Just so you know, a large chunk of Rogue optimisation is specifically about getting Sneak Attack all the time. Get concealment or Hide in Plain Sight so you can make Hide checks (or invisibility so you don't have to). Get Penetrating Strike so you get half Sneak Attack against things immune to it while flanking. Etcetera.

Avenging Executioner seems most suited to the concept. Entry with ranger would work quite well. If you want to dial up the fear focus there's ghost-faced killer. Dread commando has less frills but is a solid boost to your sneaking ability and damage output in only 5 levels. Full BA and full sudden strike are hard to come by. If you want to shore up the tracking aspect of hunting down victims there's Bloodhound.

As that prestige class was pretty strongly inspired by Sweeney Todd, yeah, I agree with that.

Go Rogue/Ardent/Psychic Assassin (http://archive.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20040723d) maybe? Get Mind Cripple and TWF with Gloves of the Balanced Hand and you can disable most opponents in a few rounds or even a single full attack, regardless of how much hp damage you do.

Spellthief 1/Ardent 4/Psychic Assassin 6/ Slayer 9 is a pretty good build, considering you can get Practiced Manifester and still get a new level of powers at the same level as a single-classed character. Be sure to use Substitute Powers (http://archive.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20070629a), and put a Wand of Wraithstrike in a wand chamber in one of your weapons, it's on the Spellthief class spell list.
