If using Find steed to say get a giant owl as a steed, would it be wrong to assume that it would be active just at night?

Or would people rule that it would be active when the character is active?

Since it's a spirit sent to take that form for the benefit of the paladin it would be active when he needed it.

Not all owls are nocturnal. Giant owls, who knows?

But you can't them through Find Steed anyway. Find Greater Steed, perhaps, but they are not on the list, so entirely at the GM's discretion.

I don't think it's unreasonable to have the owl active when you need it to be. Owls are usually nighttime hunters as far as I know, but I've seen them flying around during the day too.

That said, it's not on the pre-approved list, and being flying makes it inherently way stronger than a 2nd level non concentration spell should really be giving you in my opinion.
