View Full Version : Books "Don't split the party" printing error

Hi all, I bought all the OotS books back in -I think- early 2013 and I think I never really went through all of them (apart from, of course, On the origin of the PCs, Start of Darkness and the Dragon one) having already read all the strips online.
These days I decided it was time for a full recap, so I began reading them all, only to find out I own a really odd copy of "Don't split the party".

It lacks any Introduction and/or preface, it opens straight with strip 490 (485-489 completely missing) and all the strips from 490 to 500 are printed two times, in sequence.
My OCD immediately compelled me to order a new copy on Amazon, so my problem will be solved in the next 24h, but then I began to wonder: is it a known printing error of some particular print run or do I possess some ultra-rare item, which, in due time, will come to be worth a few bazillion dollars*?

*or, much more likely, absolutely nothing at all

I’d assume that this is some kind of really rare printing error, but I have no speculations towards its value.

is it a known printing error of some particular print run or do I possess some ultra-rare item, which, in due time, will come to be worth a few bazillion dollars*? It will only become super valuable after Rich passes away, so I hope that it is a long time before you find out if the bazillion is yours.

Of course, with that bazillion you could buy out the current diamond market, and then if D&D rules were in effect you'd never need to worry about Rich passing away at all!

You don't need a bazillion to buy the diamond market. DeBeers has warehouses full of oil drums stuffed with diamonds. They're pretty much worthless without serious market manipulation to create the illusion of scarcity. Large numbers of high quality diamonds being readily available is one of the few places D&D economics is realistic.

Um, aHEM, I thought we were talking about the REAL WORLD but with magical style things, not a magical world with real life style things. Don't be ridiculous. :smallwink:

DeBeers is just making it easier to carry (e.g) 10,000GP of diamonds.

I can't think of anything off hand that would specifically require 10,000 GP of diamonds

I personally hope Rich or anyone for that matter dies in a way that would allow for a Raise Dead.

I personally hope Rich and most people die in a way that doesn't even allow for True Resurrection.

I only know one cause of death that doesn't allow for True Resurrection.

(Being Soul Bound after dying is not a cause of death.)

Every thread eventually turns into a discussion about "Space Fights".

And then there's the one with the guy with the pointed ears. "Space Journey", that's the one.

I am no dwarf oh darth paul, as my name may subtly suggest I am but a lizard! And do not dispute my knowledge on the true motivations of trees!

unless you are a botanist. Or a druid. Or actually have qualifications.

This is the secret knowledge of the Sith. I can't explain more about the relationships between lizards, dwarves, and trees, for fear that your head will implode.

The Deer Hunter.

Also First Blood.

First Blood is a masterpiece. Shame they reused that character in a bunch of action movies.

I highly recommend Cop Land, if you haven't seen it. Same actor, playing against type as a broken down local sheriff. He holds his own with Harvey Keitel, Ray Liotta, and Robert de Niro.
