So, I'm playing a Catfolk mage, and I would like advice on what alignment and background to use.

What edition is this?

Or, heck, game? I assume D&D, since you're talking alignment, and possibly 5th edition (since you mention background) but I really do not know.

You will need to give us more info, as it stands.... I guess more catfolk would be sort of chaotic? and most wizards would be Lawful? and even then, those are gross generalizations that may or may not apply to your character

This is D&D 5e, and I'm looking for a kind of mystical character that tries to help people but it's hard for other people to understand things about him.

Well, if he wants to help other people definetely good.

Why is it hard for people to understand things about him?

He's mysterius, so people don't know what to think about him, and he is not one of the races you commonly see in a town, so people don't know much about his race's traditions or how to read his expressions. Also, I'm know thinking Neutral Good for alignment.

Why is he so mysterious?

Mostly because he keeps to himself and it's hard to read his expression and body language.

I Don't know man, that doesn't really mean anything in the Law/Chaos Axis.

Why is he adventuring?

He's searching for his father's lost magic staff, which is the only thing that can save his father.

Has he always travelled? Is this a new thing for him? What does he think of the people around him?

Traveling is a new thing to him, but he knows a lot about other races because his city is a trade city that many different races come to.

He thinks that other races are somewhat inferior, but useful for learning new knowledge, and he thinks that his race is the most important race there is, second only to the gods.

Sort of a race supremacy thing? weird. What about the party? who are the other members of the party and what does he think about them?

I don't remember what the other members of the party are, but he comes to think of them as the only exceptions to other races being inferior.

So far he seems like a ****, but that doesn't mean anything in regards to alignment.

Does he have any other desires or ambitions?

He wants to follow the path of his father, who was a great wizard before a dragon severely injured him and stole his staff.

Does he want to control things, or does he see the system as something that gets in his way, or neither?

Does he consider the average person something worth helping and sacrificing for, or something to use as a resource and discard, or does he just prefer to ignore others?

What do you see your character doing before he was an adventurer?

Thanks for the help, but I don't need any more.
