Alright, so Vow of nonviolence increases the DC of "peaceful things" (anything not damaging, or that is subdual) by 4. This includes healing... but what if you use a healing spell on an undead? You are dealing damage, but are useing a healing spell, and one that is good...

So does this violate the vow?

First, the DC is only increased if the spell is cast upon a humanoid or monstrous humanoid. (First line of the feat's "Benefit" section.)

Second, the wording allows that the DC does not increase if the spell deals damage on that particular casting. (Extrapolated from the first line of the feat's "Benefit" section.)

Third, the vow only prevents you from harming humanoids and monstrous humanoids. You do not break your vow when you harm undead. (First line of the feat's "Special" section.)

So a character with Vow of Nonviolence using a cure moderate wounds to harm undead causes the undead to save versus the spell's normal DC with no modification due to the vow. And the vow is not broken.

Very cool... I knew the undead bit, but wanted to know if the DC increased by 4... and it doesn't. Thanks man  !
