Fast question regarding Akashic Mysteries, specifically Veilweaving and Essence capacity! In the long text for how to use Akashic Mysteries, it specifies character level for your Veilweaving and your capacity, while in the table it shows it specifies class level. Which one is correct? Do non-Veilweaver levels count towards your Essence capacity in some way?

They should both read "character level". The class level reference is incorrect.

Essence capacity is basically how much life energy you're capable of channeling. Everyone gets a little bit better with it as they grow in experience, regardless of what class they are (though not everyone knows how to convert that life energy into essence and fully use it).

Thank you!

In practice, this means a Vizier 11/Fighter 9 will only lose out one point of essence capacity over a Vizier 20, so their abilities will continue to scale. They just lose out on 5 veils shaped, 5 chakra binds, and 18 essence. The Vizier 11/Guru 9 loses no capacity, 1 veil (though they gain Gentle Touch), and 9 essence. They still lose out on the higher binds due to doubling up.

Exactly. The formula is basically designed to make sure your max DCs don't dip too far while still imposing appropriate penalties. The above vizier/guru would have competitive DC levels for all of their veils, but the loss of binds would be akin to a mystic theurge delaying and probably losing their top level spells in exchange for a more versatile array of options (but without taking as big a hit on the spell-level-based DCs that struggle more to stay relevant if you go off track.)

Follow-up Question:
What does "Veilweaver level" even mean and do at that point?
AFAIK it's just gained by taking levels in Veilweaver classes/archetypes (and fully stacks between them if you multiclass), but is only really used for some Veils that allow you to use it in place of BAB?
Or am I mistaken and it fulfills some other crucial role?

Veilweaver level affects the effects and scaling of certain veils, prerequisites for many akashic feats, and your attack bonus with weapon-like veils. It's also a dial that can be used with akashic monsters, though that didn't come up as much in Akashic Mysteries since that was the first place akashic monsters ever showed up and they needed to be as straightforward and tied to the concepts introduced in that book as possible.
It's a dial that affects several things and can be used to hang different mechanics on or as a secondary balance for various effects.
