PHB pg. 157 lists the speed of mounts and waterborne vehicles, but only the cost and weight of land vehicles. PHB pg. 180-181 talks about "moving" without specifying if that's on foot or in a vehicle, and states "characters in wagons, carriages, or other land vehicles choose a pace as normal", refering to the "Travel Pace" chart. Is the take away here that walking on foot and using a horse drawn wagon is equal in speed? Horses are faster than the player races, but I guess the weight they have to pull evens that out?

I think that about covers it.

I suppose another advantage is that if you engage in a forced march, it’s your mounts feeling the fatigue and you not as much.

I would rule that the land vehicle would move at the walking speed of the critters pulling it. Provided the pull weight of the wagon is insignificant to the critters pulling it.
