The game I am in has some players looking at cross classing and they started wondering about what might be able to incorporate foci. Since a paladin/cleric can use a holy symbol shield and the dark shard amulet allows a warlock to use a hands free focus we got to thinking of other ways to incorporate the various focus types. One idea in particular was use of arcane rod types as handles for hammers or maces or axes. Could an arcane or druidic staff be the pole for any of the polearms or spear weapons (stone tipped for the nature lovers)?
The other idea that came to mind was whether or not a arcane focus could also be a holy symbol. Our paladin has been looking at cross classing the celestial pact warlock and was wondering if his holy shield could also be dedicated to the specific right-hand-glowy-thing as it’s Focus at the same time it connects him to the god they both serve.
I imagine other tables have had these ideas come up and I was wondering how they were handled.
